Opens up early and barely checks on the slider well outside, 1-2
Slider winds up 4-5 inches low in the middle of the plate, Volpe opens up to get to it, and pulls it just foul over 3rd. Dangit.

Sinker low, hit hard up the middle, hits Weissert on his butt, deflects toward first, no contact play on, Weissert recovers, throws Volpe out. no advance.
With 1 out, the contact play is likely on, but not there.

If by WTF? you mean why didn't Torres score, it's because the contact play wasn't on, and Torres wasn't alert enough to try it on his own. Sharp breaking slider ties him up, Cabrera fouls it off, 0-1 Slider well low in the middle,t aken 1-1 Change tails well outside, taken, 2-1 Not to fear, pres, Embedded Yankee Weissert leaves a slider in the drop the bat happy zone below and inside middle, and drives it to the right center gap, lands for a 2 run double, and the Yanks open the lead to five, 7-2!! Back to the top for Verdugo and Soto. |

Slider away, bounced hard to Devers, Cabrera seemed to retreat to 2nd, not knowing the outs, bad bad bad, the ball goes off him into left and Cabrera should score on that.
Well, maybe not, maybe he feared being tagged for the 3rd out coming down from 2nd.
