Blake got some good out of a few average pitchers but they brought him here as a pitching guru. I have not seen it. Most FA brought in were busts. Youngsters with high hopes didn't pan out. There is zero consistency. Now have the staff seem to be head cases. I think Cole is more help to this staff than Blake.

Cashman is biggest blame. Boone is just an organization puppet and player's manager. I know other don't agree but I don't see anything from Matt Blake bringing improvement or consistency to this staff. Blake was doing fine till this year. Last year's team was not good but the pitching side was fine. This year even through the offense has some off days they lead the al in like 5 categories but keep having to climb out of holes because if the pitching. Starting rotation has been more stable lately but bullpen still wildly inconsistent. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk actually during that 1st half run, the pitching was quite good with our starting pitching and relief pitching were either leading the league or in the top 2 or 3 in ERA. the starters in particular had an amazing string of quality starts (late april through may an ERA of around 2) before the wheels started falling off. the pen a little sooner. probably a number of factors including batters making adjustments, injuries and fatigue contributed. not sure how much credit or blame blake gets, but other than cole (who was out) and gil, none of them have dominating stuff so it seems we were getting the most out of those guys.

Would the Yankees be better if they had Michael King, Luis Severino, Johnny Brito and Greg Wissert on their roster instead of Juan Soto and Alex Verdugo ? Those pitchers were on the roster at the end of the 2023 season. I know fans are going to tell me that none of those guys is going to the HOF and Soto is... And they can point out that Soto is on pace for an MVP like seasosn. Their observations are correct but their assessment of the worth of major league pitching is off.
The wheels are coming off the pitching staff. It ain't Blake's fault. You can't make chcken soup from the feathers. The Yankees traded away too much pitching. That is on Cashman. The fact is that lots of teams have had more injuries to their staffs than NY exoerienced. The problem for the Yankees is that all the depth got moved. I can't blame Blake for that.

Not having Clarke Schmidt is a huge deal. The guy was solid. I'm not saying he's an ace type but he always gave at least 5 innings and not a lot of damage once he got it going last year and this year they were 8-3 in his starts and he never gave up more than 3 runs in any start. The Yankees had better luck than many other staffs,,,including the O's, And maybe Schmidt, Poteet, Efrross and /or Trivino will all get back in September and win a championship. But my opinion is that the current are more due to Cashman's strategy than Blake's failures.

The Soto deal was a no brainer for me. Cashman traded Michael King, two mediocre pitchers and a minor league pitcher who already needs surgery for one of the best hitters on the planet. Everything that happened after that with the pitching staff is on Cashman. He could have made a better effort to trade for a starter, like Cease, but instead he gave a 3 year deal to Stroman and stuck with Nestor. Good for Sevy that he's doing well for the Mets, but when he was in the Bronx, he was hurt all the time, so I can see why the Yanks let him go.

They all put up Juan Soto numbers somewhere before they get to MLB. When you run bad pitching out to the mound, you make everyone a Juan Soto. Cashman traded away so much good and mediocre pitching, and added so much salary, that all he could do is hope Blake could work some magic. Maybe the Yankees can putt lit off. Maybe Judge, Soto, Wells, Stanton and Chisholm all get hot the same month. But I just don't like the odds.

Those 3 are arguably their 3 best / most consitent starters this year ... They also lost pretty much much their entire bullpen (- Holmes) Not sure that's better luck than most

The Yankees used fewer guys as starters this season than any team in the division and a lot fewer than the Dodgers or Astros. You can't always blame bad luck for losses.
