We lost to Detroit because he puts Holmes in at the most Critical time in a game. And every time he does Holmes can't hold the lead. Any other pitcher on the team could have held that lead in the ninth and they would have won that game. Get us a coach who knows what he's doing . I have been a fan of Yankees for the past 75 years and never have seen a Manager make such dumb moves as he does

A guy traded for to be an alternative in those situations is now one of the worst pitchers on a bad staff.

Holmes is our closer which is why he put him in. Making him the closer is the mistake. I doubt we would improve much with a new manager. The problem is our personnel (especially the offensive ones) not our manager. Manager's just are not that important any more since much of their role (bunting, hit and runs etc) no longer exist.

I think the amount of blame a manager receives is often overblown, and I agree this is a very flawed roster he's working with, but him continuing to trot Holmes out there in the closer's role when he has been absolutely dreadful since mid-May is 100% on him and worthy of blame unless there's meddling from above forcing his hand. Holmes has converted just 13/22 (59%) of his save opportunities since May 20. In that time same time, both Kahnle and Cousins have sub-2.00 ERAs (Holmes' is in the high 4's). There is no reason to not try one of them in that role when the guy you trot out there is essentially a coin flip to blow the save. That decision is unequivocally and directly costing the Yankees wins.

I would thrown Tommy in that situation. Been saying it for awhile he may be our best 1 inning guy.

I have never been a Boone fan. However, I firmly believe that he was hired to follow the Yankees analytics for every move. So I blame Cashman and his analytics team for the poor handling of the pen.

Sometimes I think the only reason the Yankees still have a manager is because Cashman doesn't want to do the post-game interviews.

Yeah, I saw that, and it being fresh on my mind kinda triggered my comment. He just comes off as a stubborn asshole that doesn't think he should be questioned. They had very valid questions/points.

Whenever he's out played in logic he resorts to "well when you manage the Yankees, you can do it your way." Very lame.

Can’t blame everything on Boone but this team’s poor fundamentals and laziness at times falls on the manager.

Yes, add that to his/Cashman's analytics poor decisions and you have a manager who should be replaced. But Cashman, who is also thin skinned, must go too. If you can't take the criticism, the Yankees are not the team for you to work for.
