Volpe takes a big breaking sweeper in the middle away, 0-1 Lunges for a sweeper outside corner, opens up early trying to pull for power, hits it off the end of the bat, looper to left stays up, Duran catches, inning over. Once again, Volpe not fundamentally sounds at the plate. It's been almost two years, when is he going to learn from his failures?

Volpe must think he's in Fenway. What happened to the opposite field approach?

I'll say it until they're one and done this season (yet again)...This is the worst first place Yankees team (this late into the season) that I've seen in my entire life (64 years). I'd tend to agree. We're very fortunate to have gotten off to a blistering start and be in a league of seemingly unprecedented parity. I look at this team and I want to say they're going nowhere in October, but then I look around the league and realize pretty much every other team that will make the postseason is deeply flawed as well. We just need a couple of guys to get hot.

There was a time in the 60s when there were three unrelated guys named Boozer in three professional sports. John with the Phillies, Emerson with the Jets and Bob with the Bulls. Today's piece of completely useless information.

Story, Jansen and Abreu in the 7th. Hamilton still in there.

Bob Boozer makes me think of former Twins pitcher Boof Bonser. That was an all-timer name.

Story... Takes a sinker down the middle, 0-1 Chases a slider well outside, 0-2 Slider above and outside middle, popped high to short right, Rizzo goes back, looks up, loses the cap, finds the ball, 1 down.

Jansen... Takes a slider to the knees in the middle, 0-1 Swings over a thigh high sinker inside middle, 0-2 FB inside corner at 97, spoiled. Slider backs up and in, taken, 1-2 Slider barely ticks the outside corner thigh high, taken, ꓘ, 2 down.
Lefty Tim Hill in to face lefty Abreu. Great job by Hamilton, who looks like he's back on top of his game.
