Butler... Fouls off a FB up and in. Takes a slider low and outside, 1-1 FB at the knees, taken, Rodon gets Diazed again, 50-50 on Gameday, but called ball 2. Slider outside middle, Volpe fields and either forgets the runner was already at 2nd, or was practicing his 6-6-3 DP footwork, because he steps on 2nd for now reason then throws out Butler, Wilson moves to 3rd with 2 down.

Nice play by Volpe! Stretch by Cabrera at first ends the inning.

Rooker takes a curve outside, 1-0 Takes a FB near middle, 1-1 Slider barely hits the backdoor, thigh high, 1-2 Slider near the bottom pulled toward the 56 hole, Volpe backhands and throws on the move, the throw is offline to the RF side, and Cabrera stretches and MAYBE stayed on the bag. Close call, but the A's don't challenge. Inning over.
Top 4, 6-0 Yanks. 12 pitches for Rodon in the 3rd, 43 through 3.
Top of the order for the Yanks in the 4th: Torres, Soto and Judge.

Playing catchup: Stanton's 26th HR: 111.5 mph, 441 feet, 29° launch angle, a HR in 46 of 30 MLB parks.

Torres takes a slider that brushes the outside corner near the top, <5% on Gameday FB up and in ties him up, popped foul well off 1st, a foul ball in most parks, but in this place, it's a pop out as Nevin races over to grab it, 1 down.

Soto... Slider misses low and just outside, 1-0 Slider outside, waist high, 2-0 Slider into the middle, near the top, taken, 2-1 FB on the inside corner, taken, 2-2 Sinker just outside at the bottom of the zone, tapped to the right of the mound, Sears gets it, flips to 1st, 2 down.

Judge... FB on the corner away, late and under again, fouls it off. Boy, I hope he figures out his timing for the playoffs, he's not nearly at his best right now. FB above and inside middle, again late and under, pops it out of play off 1st, 0-2 Change stays well outside, no chase, 1-2 Slider on the back leg, lays off, 2-2 FB just outside waist high, fouled off.
Ohtani doesn't stop, and Judge can't get started again.

For me, seeing the Athletics move from Oakland is profoundly sad. Many, many wonderful memories of taking in a ball game at the Coliseum. Good knowledgeable fans. RIP Oakland A's.

FB maybe on the inside corner, Judge takes, and Diaz rings him up for the ꓘ, inning over. YES zone says ball by an inch or so, but Gameday says 5-10%, and Statcast K zone says more like 2-3%, anyway it was close enough. Marginal, but justifiable.
Bottom 4, 6-0 Yanks. 1-2-3 for Sears in the 4th on 13 pitches and 76 through 4. 3-4-5 for the A's in the 4th: Langeliers, Bleday and Gelof.

M's lead the Rangers 6-4 in the 9th, trying to stay in the thick of the Wild Card race.

If Volpe's mother doesn't smoke during pregnancy, he makes that play.

Langeliers takes a backdoor curve waist high for a strike. Swings over a change below the corner away, 0-2 Change tails well outside, taken, 1-2 FB on the outside corner, lined hard over Volpe's leaping lunge to his left for a leadoff single.
