I posted this pic once before...couldn't find a nicer, more accommodating guy. Hard to believe it was AZFL 10 years ago.

Yankees have never played in this format. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk So? Not sure what your point is. That there shouldn't be 3 wildcard teams and making the 1 game playoff (which was also stupid) into a 3 game playoff still seems to be over ASAP with the majority of the series not even making the third game.

Oh...OK. I agree that the playoffs have been expanded too much, but we know why that is. But beyond the revenue generated, it also keeps most fans interested for most of the season. Those of us old enough to remember pre-divisions know that there were teams hopelessly out of contention as early as June, even when there were just 8 teams in each league. Now that there are 15 teams in each league I can't imagine any fan, including Yankee fans, being interested when their team is mired in 14th place by the All-Star break.

I get it but I think 2 wc was enough. Being a division winner shouldn't put you in this 3 game series thing against a wildcard. You should get a full 5 game series for winning the division. The 2 wc in a bo3 I guess is the fairest way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Since there are only 5 teams in each division most teams will be in contention for a division championship for most of the season. As I posted earlier, for the playoffs the division winner with the best record gets a bye, and the other 2 face off in a 3 or 5 game series. The winner of that will play the team which got the bye in a 5 or 7 game series. The winner of that series will move on to a traditional 7 game World Series.

Why not expand both leagues by just 1 new team in each league? This way with 16 teams, they can create 4 different divisions (AL North, AL South, AL East, AL West)...The same for the National league. Only the teams that finish in first place in each division will go to the playoffs (doing away with the wildcard altogether, and its reputation for allowing teams who didn't earn their way, to get into the playoffs, and win anymore non-deserved WS championships). Come playoff time, the AL East winner will play the AL West winner, and the AL North winner will play the AL South winner for the division championship (same for the NL). The winners of the division championship play for the league championship title, and that winner will meet the winner of the NL in the World Series.

I believe there's been talk of that, including shifting teams to different leagues (as was done with Milwaukee/Houston) to make more sense geographically. Make sense to me, but expansion is easier said than done. I believe a team in the Carolinas would be very successful. Other options might be Portland or Salt Lake City.

Most of the colleges have excellent baseball programs, and USA Baseball is headquartered in Cary, NC. I've often said that the Tampa Rays, which has its AAA team in Durham, should move there (Charlotte).

Why not expand both leagues by just 1 new team in each league? In my opinions...That would water down MLB talent even more, but expansion is probably going to happen. I'd rather see MLB have 28 teams which would give teams more depth. But the chances of that happening are probably zero.

Don't think it can't happen, I mean look at attendance in Tampa Bay, and in all honesty, who's going to go to the middle of the desert to watch the (former Oakland) A's in Las Vegas? Losing 2 MLB teams is probably a greater probability than adding 2 new ones!

There's not enough major league quality pitchers for 30 teams, so they could contract 2 of them. Start with the Marlins and the based on talent, the White Sox. But they would never get rid of one of the Chicago teams, so they would have to find another team to boot.
