The Dodgers have their trio of MVP's and Rojas and the Padres have several. That's it for the 8 teams that are still playing. You get more of the things that you are willing to pay for. The "modern game" does not value batting average the way traditionalists do. And that might be way guys are getting tiwsted every time somebody throws them a change. this is absolutely true. the modern game does not value hitting, or for that matter team speed and ... stealing and hit and runs. But not everyone is as a true believer in that as Cashman or has the vast resources he has. Nuff said I have argued for years with chi over this point.

Takes a FB just above middle middle, 0-1 Takes a cutter high, 1-1 FB outside middle, fouled off, missed a good one, Jazz. Takes a FB high, 2-2 Woooooo. That was strike 3, not called. Sinker inside corner, 70% strike on Gameday, Jazz got a BIG break there.

Cutter inside, pulled hard but way foul off 1st. FB outside middle, but he misses it, hits a fliner to left center, and Hampson has an easy play to his right, 2 down.

Volpe 1-4 with a HR, 4 RBI, 1 BB and 2 K vs. Schreiber. Takes a slider at the knees, 0-1 Takes a FB well outside, 1-1 FB below and outside middle at 93, and Volpe plain misses it, sigh. Missed a cookie, Anthony. Slider well outside below the knees, he lays off it, 2-2 Slider is close, but still out of the zone, he chases and taps it foul down 3rd. Takes his timeout.

FB just on or just off the corner away, waist high, 0-1% on Gameday, marginal, 3-2. FB above the waist, outside corner, spoiled. FB thigh high, outside corner, hit to deep right, but not deep enough, fliner to right, Pham goes back and catches on the edge of the track, inning over. Good try with that one, Volpe.
Top 7, 4-1 Royals. Schreiber threw 20 pitches for his one inning. My guess would be that Quattro tries to get the last 9 outs from his two best down the stretch, Bubic and Erceg.
Hampson, then back to the top for Garcia and Witt for the Royals in the 7th.

I sure miss the core four "mystique Yankees" comeback years.

Yankees have 5 walks in this game and 6 strikeouts.
Royals have 1 walk and 10 strikeouts.
Difference so far is that one bad inning by Rodon.

Isbel pinch hits for Hampson vs. Holmes, now in for the Yanks. Takes a sinker low, ball 1. Sinker outside middle, swung on and missed, 1-1 Sinker waist high, outside corner, grounded up the middle to the right of 2nd for a leadoff single.

And that might be way guys are getting tiwsted every time somebody throws them a change. I think Jazz should be one those type of players but he would have to change his hitting style. The never ending conversation is about Volpe but it works for Jass too, In fact, as a LFer, maybe even more so.
