Cole with a beautiful back door breaking ball to leave the bases loaded. Cole doesn't have his best stuff or command tonight, but he's making good pitches in big spots, walking the knife edge again. He needs a 1-2-3 inning.

Takes a FB that clips the outside corner, just above the last one, 2-2
Curve well low and outside, he lays off, 3-2
Slider to the knees, outside middle, Verdugo swings over it for the K, 2 down.

Torres takes a slider that ticks the bottom of the zone, not called, 5% on Gameday, Torres gets a small break to start the AB.
Slider low in the zone, foul tipped, 1-1
FB below middle, fouled off. Dangit, missed a hittable FB there.
Takes his timeout.
Curve backs up outside, trying for the back door, taken, 2-2
Slider near where the 1-0 was, inside outside a fliner to the gap in right center, Thomas cuts it off, Torres makes a big turn, almost runs himself into a TOOTBLAN, but gets back in time.
Soto up with 2 down.

With Judge not hitting, Soto just isn't getting the same kind of pitches to do damage.

Yanks did a little better making the Cleveland pitcher work, 4 batters, 17 pitches, a couple of batter timeouts.
Cole got some rest, at least.

With Judge not hitting, Soto just isn't getting the same kind of pitches to do damage. The 1-1 sinker down the middle was pretty juicy, but I think he was taking, trying to get a "book" on Herrin for when he faces him later in the series in a bigger spot. |
