I hope the Yankees win it all this year, because they won't be coming back to the World Series stage again for a long time... Is the same type of prediction as "one and done" or "two and through" you made this year?

Is the same type of prediction as "one and done" or "two and through" you made this year? As I recall (which you can easily confirm by finding the posts where I said it) I said " I HOPE THIS WON'T BE ANOTHER..." before I made that comment. I STILL hope that's true, since if they lose the World Series it will be another "two and through" scenario). That being said, the Yankees still have the better guns to win this series, but not if they lose tonight. This is NOT 1978, nor 1996. This Yankees team is designed to win it all NOW (in spite of the worse manager the team has had since Joe Torre). They just need to win tonight, take 2 of 3 at the Stadium, then finish the Dodgers in game 6 in L.A.

For me the story to that story is the source of the opinion. Jeter is well known for saying nothing...no matter how many words he needs to say it. I am wondering why he chose to so clearly let his feelings known. As for the dominating Cole, I did not see enough of the game. I don't think it is easy to judge from television either. What I am thinking is that if a 34 year old Cole cannot give me 110 pitches in the World Series after working 120 innings this year, I have real questions about picking up an option year on that deal. Cole could opt out after this season and become a FA (I hope he does) If he does the Yankees can void the opt out by adding another year (2029) @ $36M (that would be foolish) I don't think Cole will execise the Opt out coming off a half season of Elbow injury If he does ... the Yankees should absolutely let him walk and go after Burns I think Cohen would be happy to add Cole at his current price. But that might not be the end of the world. www.si.com/mlb/yankees/news/why-stars-might-be-lining-up-for-gerrit-cole-to-leave-yankees-grant9#:~:text=Ever%20since%20Gerrit%20Cole%20signed,one%20of%20MLB's%20best%20pitchers.

That's how it works, not necessarily in that sequence. And if they don't..."they won't be coming back to the World Series stage again for a long time". Right?

Why would Cole opt out to sign with the Mets @ his current price ?? Cole is Guaranteed 3 years at 36m per $108m total ... if he opts out it will be for at least another season @ ~$36m It's a huge risk for Cole and whoever signs him ... I just dont want it to be the Yankees. He's not worth it and there are obvious signs that he is declining if he doesnt need surgery

But I do think he wants a safety net and that is what Cohen provides.

Put it to you this way, if the Yankees lose this World Series, I don't see the Yankees winning another World Series championship while Aaron Judge is wearing a Yankees uniform. That's how important I see winning this series is for the Yankees. And I love Judge, but as he's shown constantly in the post season, he can be pitched to by superior post season pitchers. Judge isn't the problem, though...the Yankees lack of teamwork as a unit (unlike the '96-2000 teams) is the problem. I've been watching the Yankees since the 1960s, and this Yankees team is the worst out of all the teams they've had during that time, which made it to the World Series...in my honest opinion. So let's go out there and kick some Dodger butts tonight, and the rest of the series...win it all while they still can!

LOL I love the Yankees...so regardless of what happens in this series, I still have videos of their games from championship seasons to watch during the off-season...where I no longer have to be frustrated over having an incompetent manager running a team good enough to make it to the playoffs, but not good enough to win it all. My baseball off-season is filled with players who knew how to win, with skippers who knew how to get them there to do it.

But the Yankees would be foolish to let Cole sign with another team until they sign Burnes.

I'll just point out that the Mets have $200 M coming off the books so they can do whatever they want.
