Takes the slider low/away, 1-1 on Volpe. 30 pitches now for Treinen.
Takes a sinker in and maybe up, 2-1
Actually brushed the top of the zone, not called, 5%, Volpe got a break, 2-2
Sweeper inside middle, a hanger, but he fouls it off, Dangit
high slider frisbees away from him and I have no idea how he spoiled it, he flew open again.
Terrible slider low/away, the right pitch, and he fished for it, and he's back to where he was in his bad 2nd half slump, K's, 2 down.

Roberts brings Vesia to pitch to Wells. Yanks can PH with Trevino here, or Dominguez, but Jasson is not nearly as good from the right side.

Such lack of power on the bench when you think about it. Grisham has had his moments I guess but not consistent. Oswaldo is hit or miss. Trevino hasn't hit much since 2022. Dominguez is the only one with power really but he hasn't shown much since coming up. Trevino...
FB waist high, inner 3rd, and he tries to jump it, hits a fly to deep left center, but it dies short of the track, Edman catches, Dodgers win 4-2, and lead the series, 2 games to none.
I can't fault him for going for that one; he guessed he'd get a hittable FB on the first pitch and he got one, and missed under it.
Statcast went out in the 9th, so I have no idea how hard he hit it.

Horrible at bat from Volpe. He would have walked if he had never swung the bat. I dislike Smoltz, but he was right. Volpe's approach that at bat was completely wrong. Had to keep the front hip in, step into the slider away and try to slap it to right. |
