If the Yankees lose Soto to the Mets or Red Soxs it would be disgraceful.

There are always good players available after the first round of the amatuer draft. Finding them is difficult. One gripe I have with Cashman is that the Yankees put too much emphasis on data and not enough on scouring. Farm systems start with scouting. I'm also not convinced we do a good job developing young talent. Who was in charge of scouting when they got Bernie, Jeter, Pettitte, Mariano and Posada, or were the Yankees just lucky that all 5 of them panned out to be stars?

The only guy in the group who was an elite prospect as an amatuer was Jeter. The other guys were either late round draft picks or low priced international signings. The guy responsible for Bernie was Doug Melvin. The scouting director in 1990 was Brian Sabean.

Gene Michael ran the Yankees when George was suspended for 3 years or so and drafted all of those guys during that time. He also traded for Paul Oneill. He rebuilt the farm system and put the team on track.

If the Dodgers sign Soto, they may as well hand them the 2025 World Series trophy now, since it will be a no-brainer. Also, why bother to have an All-Star game, when anyone can simply go to Chavez Ravine 81 times a year?

Eerily quiet following the big Soto meeting yesterday. All of his previous meetings with the Mets, Jays and Red Sox went extremely well. Did we not impress?

Jon Heyman reports that no offers have been made to Soto with the meetings this past week. It was merely just getting acquainted with him.

If he becomes a Met, I think we'll be seeing a new NL east champion next season.

Who feels the Yankees have to match the best offer given to Soto and who feels there is a point in which you just move on? For those willing to move on, what would your top offer be? I'm in the camp of moving on if it gets over $650mm. I also think $650mm might be a mistake.

Did we not impress? bleacherreport.com/articles/10143960-juan-soto-rumors-yankees-meeting-went-very-well-amid-dodgers-red-sox-more-buzzBoras camp is very well coached. We are going to continue to hear every meeting went well as they continue to drive up his value. If he met with the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters we would hear it was a good meeting and they are a serious contender. It all comes down to the Mets, if they are really willing to blow the competition away then it's pretty much a done deal. I don't think there is another Team who doesn't have some limitation on how high they are willing to go. I don't believe the Mets are posturing when they say they will outspend everyone. Cash has to read this quickly and if it becomes clear he is going to be outbid he needs to pivot to plan B quickly and be aggressive with some of the other top FAs that are available.
