Who is going to lose sleep over this? Bob Costas retiring from baseball play-by-play after 42 years His time had long passed, but he was the voice of baseball for me growing up in the 80s and early 90s. |

I think Costas retired once before, came back and now has retired again. He was annoying during the Kansas City series but he's had a great career.

Costas was a good announcer. But we all get to a point where it is time to pack it in. I don't particularly care who is announcing a game, and it amazes how much guys make to announce (i.e. Tom Brady, Tony Romo) as if people choose to watch for them. Announcers IMO, were so much better years ago, choosing to make it all about the game and not themselves. The days of Vin Scully, Mel Allen, Red Barber and Jack Buck are gone.
