Happy for Gil but think Wells deserved it.

Glad a Yankee got it and not Colton Cowser!

Funny both Gil and Cowser had a WAR of 3.1. Cowser had an OPS+ of 123 and Gil had an ERA+ of 117. An understandably tight vote, but I do genuinely believe Gil had a greater impact on his team. The Yanks have had their share of ROYs. Next up MVP for Judge.

The Dodgers beat the Yankees in the WS both years.

Yankees had 2 of the 3 players as rookie of the year finalists. Not bad for a team that can't developed their prospects. Yeah, the Yankees had their share of prospects that didn't make it to MLB. But in my opinion, their player development doesn't get the credit it deserves.

Happy for Gil but think Wells deserved it. To each their own, but I disagree, because for awhile during the season it looked like Gil had a chance to win the Cy Young award.

But in my opinion, their player development doesn't get the credit it deserves. I've been critical of Yankee player development and despite the two finalists I continue to be so. Volpe, Wells and Gil are all off to nice starts but I want to see them continue to grow and show some long term production before I'm willing to call them successes. Too often young Yankee players burst on the scene but don't achieve long term success. There is also no question their minor league affiliates all stuggled this year with most prospects not named Durbin taking steps backwards. I'm hopeful both Wells and Volpe become solid everyday players but I've seen enough inconsistency with both to understand it's not a sure thing. I get it that they are young so I will be patient, while Volpe did improve this season I was hoping for a bit more. Wells season ending slump was concerning but I'm hopeful he was just getting use to a longer season and being an everyday player. Gil succeeded beyond my greatest expectations but I need to see him repeat it.

IF you look at the year Wells was more consistent. I really forgot how dominate Gil was in the 1st half of the season then after the injury the team messed around with him. Hopefully he is healthy and ready to go with no limitations next season.

Our player development is such a weird combo of good and bad at the same time lol
The most frustrating thing is that it feels they have a lot of cases where they have a guy ranked highly, they hype him up, they refuse to trade him, and then just inexplicably they never give the guy a chance. Oswald Peraza is one example recently. Andujar had a great rookie of the year then they just let him rot. Florial never got any play even as we were starting pathetically bad outfielders every day. At some point you need to blame the prospects for not playing well but feels like the organization isn't really good at evaluating things ahead of time. Too many guys keep excelling through the system then just falling off the face of the earth.
