I wait until a couple hours before the deadline, just to see if I can get it in on time. Sarah did ours as soon as she’d have our W-2s. We’d have a refund before most even did their taxes. Rizzuto living dangerously. When it’s just me, I roll the dice 🎲!

Rizzuto living dangerously. “Mission Impossible” theme song playing in his car as he’s weaving through traffic with the tax folder clamped between his teeth…Signing the documents as he dives through the CPA’s locked glass door just as the receptionist is turning the key. “I made it! I made it!” “That was yesterday, sir.”…

The pain was when I lived in two different states during a single year and had property in three states, one a rental property and land sales in Louisiana. Still did it on the computer with the software. Now with all my money gone to medical bills and over two years being unemployed, yet somehow receiving no unemployment benefits from two separate claims (everyone else seemed to receive benefits but me), in which I was supposedly was to receive awards, yet somehow did not, my taxes are quite easy. Still a pain of a process though. Just take out during the year and leave me alone.

If Chi had been around back in the day, the Feds never would have nailed Al Capone. I'm thinking you have to be pretty cut-throat to keep up with Chicago-style tax returns. Illinois puts more Governors than drug dealers in jail.

It’s so odd… Oh, it was explained to me when I was living in Iowa again. I was told that there was glitch in their software system and many people who qualified for benefits did not receive them because they were never notified, though in their system it said, "award granted." But, I was told, they now had a brand new computer platform that would prevent that from happening again, so I decided to apply again, this time after I was back in Texas. I did receive a letter in the mail, stating that I had been approved for unemployment benefits; however, I had until October 8th to access the funds. The date on the letter was October 8th, and I received it on October 10. No one had any idea how to help me and after many calls, disconnections in the middle of the call, and forwarding me to wrong department or back to the initial answering system to press one if you need to ....Yes, I may be the only person in the US who needed and qualified for benefits - not because of COVID - but simply due to paying in to Unemployment Insurance for decades, only to receive nothing on two separate occasions when I finally needed it. You know the saying, "Lucky at love..."

Rizz, I think it has reached the point where you are justified in taking the issue to your Congressman. Occasionally they take time off from raising money to do something useful, especially as an election draws near. I've seen them get involved in less egregious issues.

Fortunately, I am once again, finally, gainfully employed. I'll receive my first paycheck on April 15 - apropos. But, you are probably correct. It would be nice to recover some of the cash I earned paying into the system.

Too bad it had to come right at the start of baseball season, but we can't always pick our spots. Seriously, I'm very happy for you.

I admire you for getting your medical bills paid, etc. during that stretch. Many would not have. So many people I’ve met with credit destroyed because of medical bills…
