No, I was only 7 years old in 1956. I was probably out playing baseball with my friends. I remember getting hooked on baseball in the late 1950's. I also listened at night with a single ear plug with my Panasonic "12 transistor"radio, which I still have in my collection of childhood kitch.

Thanks to everyone who welcomed me and shared some of their early memories as neophyte Yankee fans. I do remember Roger Repoze, a left handed hitter who "squeezed the sawdust" out of the bat. The most obtuse memory I have is of Ross Mosschito, who was a rule 5 selection that the Yanks had to keep on the roster for a year. I'd never played much but was coined "Mickey Mantle's legs" as he often replaced him late in games as a defensive outfielder. Trivia - The only player that Frank Crosetti. (Yankee 3rd base coach) ever shook hands with when crossing third after hitting his first (maybe his only) home run.

Is that your pug in your avatar? Nice to meet you, kaybli! Actually that WAS my pug from many years ago ("Cocopugg")...the only dog I ever had, and she was something! Pugs are like little clowns, and Cocopugg just wanted to play and have fun all day long. I used this avatar on the YES message board practically from its inception! I'm looking forward to lots of great NY Yankees posts on this forum! Peace!

Roger Maris also played some CF when Mick started playing at first base more often. He did a pretty good job, too.
