I feel when someone gets signed by a professional team they should just purge their twitter at that point to avoid things like this. I agree that people are different at 17 but they should really monitor their Twitter better if they are going to be in public view. You're a smart man Ant!! Even though I'm most definitely not in the public eye... I make sure that my Facebook is blocked towards anyone not on my friends list.. this way prospective employers and the ilk can't go snooping.. But if I was in the public eye that shit would be locked down even more. I'd probably hire someone to run my social media for me to be honest. I'm sure there's LOTS of money in that right now... Honestly I went to look at my twitter today just to make sure lol. I am not a racist person at all, but I just wanted to make sure I didn't post anything over the line back then. Looks like I joined twitter in 2008 so I was 24 then not 17 or something gotta love my first two tweets: Yea not too interesting lol I do agree though if I'm in the public eye this crap is getting deleted ASAP and someone will be hired to manage my account if I ever achieve that kind of fame for some reason. My fb is friends only for like 98% of my posts. Only thing I ever make public is like sharing a major sports event if the yankees won a playoff series etc.

The United States of Amnesia is fast becoming a nation of the perpetually offended. Self-depreciation, humility, irony, rugged individualism...dying concepts replaced by self-pity, pomposity, idiocy, and learned helplessness.

Often the immature mind will utilize any weapon to create laughter. I know I did that as a child/teenager. I know I still walk a fine line with that at times, so perhaps I never grew up. Since I don't know hardly anything about rap except that I've never been able to enjoy it, I have no idea what was written by Hader vs. what was quoting rap music. The sexual things are the stuff we used to say in the locker room and we always said that you were either talking about it or doing it, (as in those that were doing didn't talk) so most of that was just to impress guys. I didn't get much humor out of what was written, and from what I've been told much of rap is about the writer's pain, which some could interpret as vitriol if they have not "experienced" life through the same prism. The tweets seem a bit rebellious and angry to me, unless I'm missing something... In any event, he makes a living throwing a baseball. He should be quite unimportant to us, unless he were like John Rocker and still spurting this crap as an adult... I'm thinking that having passed through the minor leagues and assimilated himself in MLB he has changed his thinking greatly. When we leave a closed society we have many opportunities to learn. Even our highschool was that, a closed society, because we usually hung out in packs. The smart kids, the nerds, the athletes, the (then hidden) gays, the mean girls, the sad and ugly girls. The teachers kids often had the worst plight. I saved a couple from beatings even though I barely knew them. Perhaps there is still work to do. Perhaps he will do it, and perhaps not...It's an individual choice. The past should be left there. The lesson should be learned by all people in the world, much less those that are in the public eye. This is an age without mercy in the media. A story is a story. Don't be foolish enough to become one... Well said inger

I did some googling n it seems like most companies want to market athletes from social media not protect them from it.

I did some googling n it seems like most companies want to market athletes from social media not protect them from it. Then they should protect that marketing investment by filtering it. Of course this is borderline to unconstitutional because it limits free speech...but if the athletes sign a contract, who's the loser???

Strange occurrence: I have always used treble punctuation since the early days of my forum posting. Oddly, now whenever I do three question marks, they do not show on my post. Instead a “sad face” is showing. Is there a way this can be fixed? I see my treble punctuation as a sort of “signature” that sets me apart, and is indicative of the fact that I am (always and forever) still thinking the subject through so I could potentially reopen the conversation any time within the next 250 or so years...
