There's no place for Drury right now in a full lineup. Better him than a prospect with more potential down the line.

Is Happ really an upgrade over Cessa?

Is Happ really an upgrade over Cessa? It's too early to say that Cessa is a reliable cog in the rotation having only 3 starts under his belt this year. I'd rather have Happ with Cessa in the minors as a depth piece if someone gets hurt.

Kaybli... I totally agree with you on the whole Happ with Cessa in minors as depth is better than Cessa in rotatio n
Otoh... I disagree with your assessment of Drury... He's having a horrible season. But he'll be good as a utility guy going forward.. Better than Toe and we can trade him when Wade proves he can hit MLB pitchers...
Assuming he can do what Toe did and not get rusty after sitting on the bench so long. actually I think Drury proved he's an every day player and deserves to play on a team that'll let him do that. With Donaldson leaving he'll be a good fit for Jays
Guess I changed my mind mid post lol. If we get Happ... I'm gonna start going by J.A. Sierchio... Jason Andrew is my first n middle

I do the trade. Drury would not be human right now if he was happy with his situation. I'd much rather we trade Walker, but quite obviously that wouldn't bring Happ back. So we trade the better of two players, knowing full well that it's likely that before the season is over Wade is going to win that job (utility) anyway (let us pray that's true)...For some reason, Walker hits .250 over about a 6 game stretch and he's "fixed" in the line up until his next 0 for 15, when he gets a hit or two and another reprieve...It's nuts, really. Don't get it...So use Drury for SOMETHING. Yes, Happ can replace Cessa, and we can hope that Gray is "fixed". If not, Cessa replaces Gray at some point, I guess...

By the way, to be clear... I think Drury is an over-pay. Yet, he's excess parts right now, so I can live with that. We need an arm...

McKinney was completely blocked in this organization. It's a shame to lose Drury though. Why even get him in the first place?

McKinney was completely blocked in this organization. It's a shame to lose Drury though. Why even get him in the first place? He was there to give Andujar more time to develop while Drury started at 3rd. But when Drury went on the DL for migraines/vision problems he got Wally Pipped by Andujar. It happens. Its good we had him. Or we wouldn't have the piece to get Happ and would have to trade somebody else.

I'd rather have Happ with Cessa in the minors as a depth piece if someone gets hurt. Cessa has had more bad starts than good. While he’s looked better the last three starts that’s not enough to call him improved. Least from what we saw of cessa before when he is terrible he is really bad. Hopefully he has improved that.

this is an underwhelming trade.....Drury was not going to play much ahead of Andujar and Torres...McKinney had no chance to play, although I liked what I saw of him....Happ is mediocre, at best.....ehhhhh……..

Happ for Drury would have been a fair trade, including McKinney is an overpay, however, as already mentioned, he didn't have a place to play in NY. These also clears another 40 man roster spot this off season for Cashman to use.
