Honestly, WTF? He's just not that good. Except against us. We should have acquired him just to play defense. Much as Happ, Britton and Lynn could be smart pickups because of their record against the Sox, Boston was smart to add this guy if you believe this isn't just some weird fluke. And it didn't seem flukey last night. They had him batting third so they knew what they were doing. It really is unbelievable that so much of his career stats come against the Yankees def not some fluke. As far as RISP I believe it was said on the broadcast the Yankees actually lead the majors in sac fly’s which surprises me as their RISP overall are not that good. I missed that when the announcers said the Yankees were leading in sacrifice fly's. I wonder(I don't wonder enough to research it) how many of those sacrifice fly's happened when runners were on 1st or 2nd. The reason I say that is if the runner is not on third if the next hitter(s) don't get a hit a sacrifice fly doesn't help much. I have felt for years that the Yankees don't sacrifice bunt enough but again if the next batter(s) don't get a hit it doesn't help a lot either. Bottom line probably is we don't get enough hits with runners in scoring position and have too many at bats where the runner's are not advanced. Probably does not take a PHI BETA KAPPA to see that though. |

Who knows, Marcus Thames has stayed pretty much under the radar this year. Just wondering, bearman, how did you find this board? I was on the old board and if I remember correctly someone on there mentioned it and so I came over. Have actually been lurking here for awhile. No wonder I've felt someone's been watching me from the shadows...  |
