For a brief shining moment, Shane Robinson was not useless. Soak it in while it lasts. my boy Sugar Shane! He also got to coast home with a run on the grand slam. Quite a night to tell his grandchildren about someday when has his teeth in a glass. “Yesh, shildren, I told Shtanton to look for a piscth low and away. He lishtened to me and hit it a country mile”...

Lately Bird has either hit screaming loud outs or looked like total crap. It’s like Groundhog Day every game... Are you a Bird believer inger? Typically, yes. But doubt is certainly creeping in. I think sometimes after a player misses so much time there is just something lost that’s never coming back. Maybe it’s timing. Maybe it’s just the reps that can never be regained. Touch. Not sure how to express it. There is such a small margin between success and failure that it may not be possible to describe it. Baseball has ups and downs. He got fairly hot for a while, so i’m Going to believe he can do it again. Often the difference is in how long a player can maintain his hot streaks and if he can minimize the cold ones...

I'm in the same boat as you. I've always believed in Bird but there is some doubt creeping in now. I thought he had it turned around when he pushed his OPS above .800 but since then he's been cold again.

So, back to Bird again...he’s only 25. He’s playing tonight in his 154 th MLB game. He’s only hit .222, but he’s also hit 29 HR and driven in 86 runs. There are good and bad points in that. If he was a rookie, we’d gladly take those numbers and hope for improvement.
Here’s a theororetical query. We know that unused muscles atrophy. At 25, they can be rebuilt. So does muscle memory also “atrophy” for lack of a better word? If so, can that also be recaptured? I don’t know if that can even be answered from a scientific or medical perspective...
Too soon to give up? Yes. Too soon to be concerned? No. not at all...

Sevy bounces back strong! Perhaps this little rough stretch will have a bit of a silver lining. Get all the Cy Young stuff out of his head and just focus on pitching again. Nothing like a bit of humility to get us back in line... He was strong tonight after that rough first inning...I think he’s fine. Mostly was just hoping he was healthy. He appears to be. I think he’ss Do a fine job down the stretch...

The umps have really been whipping Gardner’s ass this season for some reason. I know he seems to be getting quite vocal with them, but this is one of those chicken or egg issues. Did the bitching start first on pitches that were strikes, or is it getting worse the more he bitches at the balls???
