Remember Earth shoes? With the "negative heel?" Before the corduroy jacket, I had a pair of those. Direct from Denmark. They had to be cool, right? I think they were in style for about six months, but I needed some new shoes during those six months. Is this the one? I have never heard of them before! You nailed it Rizz. They were actually very comfortable, but I think there were supply chain issues (those weren't just invented this year) and they faded away. Later Denmark struck back with Ecco and had a much better run.

Earth shoes, platform heels, clogs, two tone shoes, hush puppies including two-tone hush-puppies, go-go boots. It seemed there was no safe place to hide. Even sneakers were tough because of the Converse intrusion… In the 80’s, Nike saved the world from bad footwear!!! Adidas were very cool back then, but they were too expensive. I had converse high tops for basketball. One year, I had Nike high tops but there were not as comfortable and wore out quickly, not like they are these days.

I remember getting my first pair of Adidas in 1975. That was a great look for the time. I also wore Converse high tops for basketball in the 60s. Also PF Flyers and as a little kid US Keds. There weren't a lot of options back then.

I would have loved these in the 1970s: Make the stripes blue and that was my first pair. I believe purchased at Foot Locker for $75. That would be like $350 today.

Six months or a year later they got put in the back on the discount rack…

I played in these circa 1980/81, but they were red and white (our school colors):

Being financially prudent was not a priority for me at that time. Single, making decent money, focused very much on having a good time. And I must admit I had a good time.

I wore Converse similar to these most of all in high school. Red and white for team colors.
