We have to enjoy college football the way it is right now because it's really going to change in a few years. USC & UCLA in Big Ten. The SEC will have around 20 teams. It just isn't as fun as it used to be with all the traditional conferences changing so much. I agree I wish we had 10-12 teams per conferences, but TV viewership has changed the landscape and nobody at the top of CFB/college sports cares enough to stop it. I think it was Wetzel or Forde who had a map of 10 made-up conferences with 12 teams in it, it was perfect and makes a ton of sense based on geography, but we know it wont happen. As long as the playoff expansion gets done, it'll be for the better eventually. Larger playoff will create access for more teams around the nation to have a chance to "dance" late in seasons, which should help their recruiting and spread the talent more equally over time. Right now it is skewed towards 5-6 teams, Bama, UGA, OSU, Clemson, Okla, LSU bc the asshats in power can't change fast enough and only went to a Final 4. It'll especially be more exciting when they allow for home field advantage in CFP, as opposed to dull bowl sites. I can't wait to see LSU have to travel to Wisconsin in mid-December for a playoff game, or Texas go to USC, Georgia to Penn State. And home field will create importance on regular seasons games that otherwise may not be. I think about that Michigan vs Ohio State game environment last year, in the snow, how does CFB not want that as a playoff environment a week or two later? It was perfect. That's gonna create great environments and much better moments than the past century. It's also gonna cut down on the idiotic month-long gap between regular season and bowls. It's frankly appalling how CFB has been managed, even still today, but it feels like the networks will finally nudge them to a bigger playoff eventually, one way or another - and that's a good thing to me, even at the expense of all this realignment. Of course, now there's rumblings they wanna fuck around with March madness formats, oh boy. That's a dream playoff scenario you came up with, Maize. One problem is that it's hard for the corporate/university suits that run this sport to have their night before dinner parties and pregame tailgates in the cold, November Saturdays in the east coast and midwest.

Not a good start to the season when the mascot has to be carted off.

Nebraska lost its seventh consecutive game today, 31-28 to Northwestern. Scott Frost is now 15-30 as head coach. What a long slide downhill for the Huskers.

I'd say your QB is pretty special.

I'd say your QB is pretty special. Gator Nation hopes so. LSU plays its first game today against Florida State in the Superdome in New Orleans. Tomorrow in Louisiana, it will either be this team can compete for a title or the coach should be fired. Such are most LSU fans, fickle and for some reason utterly unrealistic.

I don’t really watch college football but I saw what happened to LSU. Oh man. That’s a tough one rizzutoLSU did not deserve to win that game. They were outplayed most of the game and manhandled in the trenches on both ends. Their new QB took more than half the game to realize short check downs to play makers is more effective than attempting to scramble when the first option isn’t wide open. Very poor special teams play was another huge factor.

poor fsu coaching was made up for by terrible special team play by LSU. Pitching the ball on third down up a touch down in the 4h at the one yard line was about as dumb as it gets.
