Media distraction hurt Tebow’s football career, albeit for much different reasons and circumstances. The Jets and Ryan destroyed any chance he had of sticking. Tebow always had a media circus around him, in college and the pros, even in MiLB. Tebow’s 47.9 completion percentage didn’t help him, either. To me, he’s a bit of a weirdo. I have no issue with someone expressing their belief, but he’s seemingly as over-zealous as anyone can get. Even on a team that all prays together, it can be a bit much... That was a product of square peg, round hole. The guy lived in the shotgun with the read option and screen game at Florida (which just happens to be ubiquitous in today’s game), yet saw none of it in the pros. Still, he was magical in the fourth quarter, pulling out wins by coming from behind and to the playoffs and a playoff win. Once at New York, they asked him to bulk up (which took away athleticism and explosion) to the size of a full back, then only used him in the wildcat a dozen times or so. He would have been much better if he were drafted today. Also, the guy is genuine; it’s not an act. He’s a decent human being, and he’s not a holier than thou guy. I am unaware of him being any kind of zealot or proselytizer out of context. Nobody had a problem with Reggie White, who was much more vocal and was a preacher in his own church. You talk like he was just left of a suicide bomber!

Davis, who took over the team in 2011 from his father Al, told ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez he has no problems hiring the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback since he became a free agent after the 2016 season.
“Since 2017, I’ve told the coaches and general managers that if they want to hire Colin Kaepernick, they have my blessing,” Davis said. READ MORE...

So apparently the Raiders staff has felt they had better options. I suspect that’s how other teams view the situation, too. Taking my knee again...

The NFL wants to have as normal of a season as possible amid the coronavirus pandemic, but COVID-19 is already a significant problem around the league. Nearly a third of the NFL’s teams have players testing positive for coronavirus
On Sunday morning, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that “around 10” NFL teams already have had at least one player test positive for COVID-19. This development, per Fowler, is why the NFLPA released a memo Saturday advising players to discontinue their group workouts (more on that here).
It’s a troublesome issue because players were organizing group workouts as a means to attempt some sense of normalcy. Because, at this time, they can’t work out together at team facilities as the NFL continues to keep players away amid the coronavirus pandemic. However, from their perspective, this is the time of year when it’s imperative to develop chemistry and learn the playbook. READ MORE...

Team chemistry: “I take a shot in the ass of this, two of these orally, one of these rectally, and a second one at halftime. What do you use”? “Same thing, only I mask it with 3 of these and a pre game bologna sandwich”.

The Washington Redskins are finally changing their name. Of all the sports nicknames out there that people find offensive, I think this one is by far the worst. The name change should have happened years ago but it finally took some major corporate sponsors, like RedEx and Nike to pressure the organization for Dan Synder to give in and agree to the name change.

About time. Good for them. I wonder what the new name will be?
