On Monday night, the Rams and the Cardinals play, and the Rams’ Andrew Whitworth will become the first 40 year old left tackle to start an NFL game. LSU boy! Geaux Tigers!

Anyone have an opinion on the NIL contracts happening in college football? A place like Texas A&M with their oil and gas resources and multi-billion dollar endowment could reset the balance of power in the SEC in a couple years.
Recently, the LSU Tigers lost their starting QB to Texas A&M, their All-American, 5-Star cornerback to Alabama, as well as the top three high school wide receivers in Louisiana to Alabama. According to sources, much of the reason is that both Texas A&M and Alabama have established lucrative NIL processes in place and operative at their universities, which was not the original purpose of the new legislation, in my understanding.
In a way, this may weed-out the recruits who really are not committed to LSU; however, it could also drain some of the rich home talent from the state, which has approximately the same population as the city of Los Angeles.

That could become the new normal, rather than Ohio State and Alabama fighting it out for the top spot nearly every season. Lots of billionaires sitting in suites at Kyle Field in College Station.

You're right about, things have changed in college sports and it certainly won't be the same. 247sports.com/Season/2022-Football/CompositeTeamRankings/

I believe they have the richest endowment of any public university in the US.

It's about damn time. The TV ratings this fall have been great, to no surprise, even though many griped that this would lessen their interest. It'll be interesting since kids can transfer too now one time w/o sitting out, I am not sure if it is instituted currently, but I would guess any NIL deal will eventually include a clause that stipulates you must stay at that current school to get the full agreed upon $ or else must reimburse the company you went into agreement with (maybe get it covered by a new NIL at new school)? Something I thought about when i saw that Texas QB sign with Ohio State, get a $1million bucks to skip senior year of HS, go to OSU, then now transfer back to Texas. It's still basically a free-for-all which isn't surprising, hasn't that always been the case, just under the table. and in the shadows? Speaking of not surprising, naturally the NCAA and member institutions are taking a "hands-off" approach, how appropriate and on-brand! NIL is totally fine by me, more power to the student-athletes is the right thing to do. We are seeing olympic gymnasts get good NIL deals, volleyball, golf and tennis players, which if they were professional they'd be getting anyway. We talk about the top D-I schools and players mainly, but if a local car dealership near a community college wants to give their best basketball player a 5K, who should really care? Ted on the couch? Big whoop. That may be the best time that young person has to capitalize on their basketball talent, so go get it. This is a capitalist country after all, right? Oh and on a CFB note, how bout them Wolverines. Happy holidays to all, let's have a 2022 baseball season please?

Game saving tackle on 4th down! Here we go Steelers Here we go! Titans come up one yard short again? Not as important as the original, unless you're a Steeler fan. The ref originally spotted the ball a yard and half up field but replay corrected that gross injustice!

In the fantasy playoffs, I have Tom Brady in one league but am going against Tom Brady in another league. In the league where I have Brady I had already lost so I'm happy the Saints shut him down for my other league. Geaux Saints! Advancing to the semi finals!
