The collective groan when Gray walks a batter...all without practice or choreography.

Best way to beat this Yankee lineup is just allow them to get their leadoff hitter on base and watch the guys after that fail to advance him. Their approach at the plate is terrible, just swinging for HR's.

Michael Kay said it best, what a lifeless performance by the team. The better be careful or the A's and/or Astros will pass them up.

Their approach at the plate is terrible, just swinging for HR's. Sort of like our version of “The Walking Dead”. To make it even worse, we were stealing some bases earlier this year. That seems to be something that Boone has decided we shouldn’t be doing. Hate to say it, but I like the offensive scheme of the Red Sox much better. Hitters with power that make contact. They aren’t trying to hit HR, they’re just letting them happen. They’re advancing runners, and stealing bases often and efficiently...

And, Boston is finally losing in the ninth against Philly. Yankees will miss a chance to make up a game in the standings.

I was fortunate that I had to go out for a sales presentation tonight...I got home just in time to “enjoy” the bottom of the ninth. When Gardner was at bat I offered to walk Brandy, but when I opened the door she saw it was almost dark and didn’t want to go, so I had to suffer through the remainder with the rest of you.
If we do much as get to play in the play-in game at this point, I’m going to take that as a pleasant surprise at the end of a disappointing collapse. Still a super young team with a great future, but this off-season there needs to be some serious consideration of making some adjustments to the roster and letting loose of some prospects and/or filling some holes with free agents that will change the general offensive approach and plug the leaks in the pitching dam.. that said, we’ll probably win every game from now to the end of the season and pass the Red Sox, making an arse out of me...

That would be cool. The winning part, that is. I'll withold judgment as to what would make the other part happen.

The minefield to get through the playoff system that is now in place puts a premium on having 3 very good pitchers...even 4 very good pitchers....look at Houston...look at Boston...
Cashman has done a good job with much of the roster, and particularly in building the minor league system....he has come up short in acquiring the pitching necessary to make a title run...that is an area that must be addressed this off-season.....I hope he can do it through FA signings for the most part, so the Yankees can keep the core of young players together for a few years...

WE AGREE...WE Cannot just Swing Away for HR'S...We have to mix in Base Stealing, Hitting to move the Runners Around and learning to Hit To the Opposite Fields, Etc.(Bunts, Sacrifices,).
So far swinging away for HR's has proposed, = 10 Games Behind the RS. Go figure.
If this season ends without US not going to the WS...Boone better have an Updated Resume Handy.

For a long time now the Yankees have been below league average in SBs almost every year. It just isn’t a part of their organizational approach to scoring runs. This year with as many guys as they have who can change the game with one swing I am fine with them not stealing more. You open first base and it takes the bat out of the hands of some of those guys. They do have excellent team speed overall though. Really it is just Sanchez Romine and Bird who are really slow runners.
