Like most everyone else here, I see it as between Tanaka and Happ. I voted Tanaka, just because he has some post-season history with the Yanks, but if Happ is decisively better the rest of the year, I'd ride the hot hand. How's that for wishy-washy? Yes, the Sonny Gray contingent is definitely quiet for now. There is more likelihood that Sonny Siebert or Sonny Bono would start that game than Sonny Gray. And unless his pitching takes a U-turn very quickly, Luis Severino could easily be no better than the fourth starter in the post-season. Of course, given the Yankees' vested interest in his long-term future, they might make him number two or three anyway and pray for the best. haha.....or Sonny from The Godfather...let me make you an offer you can't refuse...

Yep, I thought of him too. And Sonny Jurgensen and Sonny Rollins too. There are just enough Sonnys out there so that it's not rare, but never so many that it is common.

I bought my tickets to the Wild Card game. Now it better be played in New York or I'll be pissed. [img class="smile" alt=" " src="//storage.proboards.com/6828121/images/gszgVuvxUtZEFrgJSkis.gif"]

I really want to go that game obviously.

When you announced that you had those tickets, I would have bet my life you were going to be plopped in that seat (those seats) on the assigned date, having the time of your life...
Now, who knows what to think???

Yep. That’s a biggie... and the chances shrink even more for that one. I just hope a couple of old adages apply, like any given day, or you’re never as bad as you look when you’re playing bad...or anything else we can use...Maybe being the under dog will wear well on them...

The Yanks have to lose three more games than Oakland the rest of the way for the Athletics to get home field. While based on recent performance that is certainly far from impossible, Oakland's loss to Baltimore last night really helps the cause. It may well turn out to be a good thing to be playing Boston those last three games of the season. They will have clinched the division by then, and would most likely be judicious in their use of key players. I can't see Sale going seven innings (if he is even capable of it right now) or Betts or JD or Benentendi or Boegarts playing three full games under those conditions or Kimbrel being used extensively.
On the other hand, if the Yankees wind up with only the fourth-best record in the American League, they deserve having to deal with the inconvenient consequences. Even at that, they could still win in Oakland and drag their carcasses to Boston and make it work. Makes a more dramatic story that way.
