With his opposite field approach and willingness to cut down his swing a little with two strikes, I think he's a better hitter than Spencer. There's no way he can keep hitting at the level we've see the past month, but I think he can have a decent MLB career. You are of course correct, Chi. He is a more disciplined hitter than Spencer. And no Karim Garcia to lead him astray!! I do wonder what the implications are for Greg Bird down the road. It's hard to even spot him on the bench, it's like he's sitting behind the large bags of sunflower seeds. But seriously, there is still value there, whether playing for the Yanks or somewhere else. I wonder if any Yankee has enjoyed this past six weeks less than Greg Bird? Hopefully he will get some playing time this weekend at Fenway. |

Just like a Bird to sit behind the big bags of seed. I think he’ll compete for the first base job in the spring. It would be terrific if Voit is for real. It would be a fool’s errand to count on it, and perhaps a double fool’s errand to trade him away thinking you were trading high. So Voit must also get his opportunity to keep the job... |

So one more win or as loss and the Oakland trip is cancelled.
Crazy thing is they could wind up with 101 wins but they have to play the wild card game while Cleveland will barely get over 90 if they win out
