I’m still of the mind that, while it’s true that there are more hard throwers than ever before...Velo readings are somewhat inflated these days as well because of the change made a couple of seasons ago when they decided to measure the ball coming out of the pitcher’s hand rather than as it crossed the plate.
Human beings ARE bigger and stronger, and techniques have improved with video and research. Evolution is not quite as fast a process as these readings are making it seem. I believe that 98 from two or three years ago is now 100... 97 is the new 95, etc...More because of the technological changes than reality...
