Maybe Judge can ignite the whole power brigade to heat back up...

I’m still of the mind that, while it’s true that there are more hard throwers than ever before...Velo readings are somewhat inflated these days as well because of the change made a couple of seasons ago when they decided to measure the ball coming out of the pitcher’s hand rather than as it crossed the plate. Human beings ARE bigger and stronger, and techniques have improved with video and research. Evolution is not quite as fast a process as these readings are making it seem. I believe that 98 from two or three years ago is now 100... 97 is the new 95, etc...More because of the technological changes than reality... I concur. My opinion was three mph. I believe Nolan Ryan would generate - top end - 104. 95 today looks like 92 of the past to me. 98 like 95.

I was only giving 2 MPH, but could easily believe 3 as well. If this was a negotiation, I’d gladly settle st 2.5 MPH...

He hit the crap out of that. In Yankee Stadium it would have been more impressive because it would have carried well back into the stands. That wasn’t a hard swing, just barrelled up and hit with natural power...

The Yankees are not the same team without Judge. All those 3-2 counts, that right field arm, the OBP...different line up now.

So, I checked. Smith was 30/11 in 1971 and never stole more than 22...
This is why players get called “greats” after they retire from good careers. We tend to amplify our memories of them...

Reggie Smith is the 30-30 guy... Smith had a heck of an outfield arm. I don't remember him being a really good base stealer...but that's relative because so many more bases were stolen then. Better brand of baseball in my opinion.

Look at that little pop up he caught by the right field stands tonight. Not only mentally strong to crowd the seats to make the catch, but aware enough to get the ball in quickly and powerfully.., Jeter has that in him, too...
