Forgot to say to Michcusejoe -- give us a trip report on Maui and Kauai -- both beautiful -- I envy you. Hope you get a chance to circle Maui to visit the sacred pools and the grave of Charles Lindbergh -- what a setting. As near as I can tell, every part of Kauai is gorgeous. Hope you are over there while the Yanks are making their way to another championship!

She has never gone to Hawaii and has given me grief for the past few years for going without her last time haha. When I went in 2014, it was a buddy living in Oahu working as a consultant at Pearl Harbor actually (on a federal project). This made Hawaii a perfect location for our annual boys golf trip. Hoping to sneak in a couple of rounds at some other courses I didnt get to play last time. Theres a laundry list of things different people have told us we have to do on the two islands. I doubt we do them all but I am certainly looking forward to the relaxation.

Also, Ill be out there for games 3-7 of the World Series so if the Yankees make it I will have to go to Game 1! I assume that even though they are the WC they would have it bc they had the better regular season record, does anyone think thats incorrect?

I don't like free agency which has messed up the Yankees repeatedly over the years. I would sign no position players regardless this way. I might take a pitcher, but only if we have no prospects that can pitch next year.

Plenty of great courses too -- jeez in the Kaanapali area alone you can find so many beautiful courses, it's hard to concentrate on golf. And the north and west coasts of Kauai are breathtaking. Spectacular hikes. It will be impossible for you to go wrong.

Yankees will have homefield in the World Series.

Just reading these comments fuels my shame for obviously under-rating Hawaii. I’m sure there’s a indescribable beauty to those immense waves and the WW2 historical aspect is in another world of it’s own.
I’m not at all what you would call well-traveled, nor have I any sort of world travel bug. I do enjoy mountain travel and prefer the Rockies to any others I’ve seen... But I marvel at watching anything involving the Andes, or Alaska...
I’m sure a trip to Tibet, or the Swiss Alps would be awe-inspiring, but that kind of travel has always been outside of my wildest dreams, so i’ll Be happy for shares from pipps and others that can of will allow themselves those pleasures. Regale us when you can pipps! I harbor no envies. I simply want to be where I can eat the food and not have to wonder too much about what kind of animal I might be gnawing on. I’m a picky eater...

I like cooler weather so Hawaii does not seem ideal to me.

Loved the North Shore, the seafood trucks, dinner at Roy's, golf at Turtle Bay...the truest greens I've ever putted. Can still smell the Plumeria flowers. You can have the poi though...ugh.

There is NO WAY WE should sign Harper...a lot of what I have read is that Harper, at times, disrupts the Clubhouse.
If the Bosses decided to sign one of the two I HOPE that it is Manny.
Manny & Andujar could both split duties at 3B; while one is playing 3B the other is our DH. Plus, Manny could be back-up to SS (DiDi = For rest & in case of injury).
Manny brings more to the Party than Harper...

It’s laughable to believe that a gold glove third baseman would split 3rd base duties with one that gets subbed for in the late innings. Ask Tequila to give you a cracker for coming up with that one...

Manny brings more to the Party than Harper... Not sure what would be more disruptive than having 3 of your most important position players without an everyday spot or consistent position. With potential opening in LF and his willingness to play 1B + need for LHB in the lineup, Harper brings far more to the party.

Has there ever been anything negative in the media in regards to Harper and his teammates? I always thought he has fine in the Nat's clubhouse.

Has there ever been anything negative in the media in regards to Harper and his teammates? I always thought he has fine in the Nat's clubhouse. Well, I heard he might drink beer. And he might have thrown ice at a bartender once. And then it’s rumored that someone snuck into a bedroom and had sex at a party he attended... Dome has proven in one other thread, I forget which one.., that under circumstances like that we can assume guilt. Sick, sick behavior...

Like you, Chi...I have heard that Harper is well-liked in the Nat's clubhouse. In fact, from what I've read he's worked hard on becoming a more mature and less self-centered person. Under the circumstances, neither may come easy to him, though in 2018 and a couple of other even-numbered years, I think the game has humbled him a bit. I'm less resistant to him as an individual than I was, but the price tag and it's potential damage to future team flexibility are still a turn off. If the Yankees would make a statement that would make me believe that austerity is not going to remain en vogue for the next decade or so, I wouldn't care about the money...Heck, it's not my money...
