Paul Goldschmidtt is on the market, you know...Gold glove and an all-star bat...

Paul Goldschmidtt is on the market, you know...Gold glove and an all-star bat... I would think that it would take a boat load of talent to get Goldschmidtt out of Arizona. I wonder if Harper could really play 1st base? If the Yanks are willing to pay the money, Bryce would give them the left handed middle of the lineup bat they need.

Goldschmidt is a fine player, but another RH bat. He's not what the Yankees need. The only way he'd make sense is in a deal in which the Yankees send Stanton to Arizona. Stanton+Sonny Gray for Goldy+Greinke would be an interesting deal. Add Harper to play LF and a B/U glove at 3B. But that's the opposite of likely.

They will have to replace 27 homers and what, 80 something RBI, plus GG defense, fairly good speed on the bases and of course the intangibles that DIdi brings. Excuse me for thinking Hechieverra or Cabrera can't fill that void, or if its any sure thing Didi will be back at all next season, or that Sanchez and Bird are going to have some epiphany and replace the offense lost, or that no field players are going to get injured. If the offense and defense are going to be diminished, maybe for the entire season with only a patch put over the deficit, then the team will need two front line starters. Corbin and Happ are both acceptable 2-3 guys maybe, but they aren't the entire answers. Its pretty clear that Hal is in a tight spot. I don't really think he wants to revisit going over the luxury tax threshold again, but there are a lot of questions the team has to answer next season. Lots of teams would love to have the Yankees problems and maybe Sheffield will be ready. There will be a lot of pressure on Hal to sign Machado. Harper, not so much.
