The returning Didi will be a thirty year old short stop. By the time he returns, Torres could well be better armed to handle SS...It might be more prudent see the returning player before committing to a long-term relationship with him...His arm is a large part of his defensive weaponry...Will he really command an unaffordable price when he hits free agency coming off an injury year???

Given the year he's just had I think he'll have a lot of interest. It is an injury he should fully recover from. I also think apart from fielding the position, losing him further exacerbates the lack of lefthanded power in the lineup, which was already an issue. Between this and Bird losing his job to Voit, this lineup really is lopsided.

If we want hitting we could find a decent fielder and then move them to DH. Stanton wants to play the OF not DH and there will be openers there. Or we could find someone who can play 1b or 3b.
