Hi Gang! We got out here safe, but there’s no cell service back in them thar’ Hills...since a snowstorm is supposed to hit here on Friday, we’ll probably sit tight until Saturday before starting to head back. Hey inger! Hope you're having fun on your trip! Safe travels back home!

Hey inger! Hope you're having fun on your trip! Safe travels back home! Ruthie’s brother in law watches Fox News all day until the evening when he finally turns on Gunsmoke for a couple of hours before he goes to bed at 9... I go outside for walks. The have a good 150 acres of land...Just have to keep an eye out for carnivores. The bears are still awake (I think) and the cougars never sleep...

I'd take my chances with the carnivores over being forced to watch Fox News for hours on end.

Nothing like the escapism of the fictional great man who comes to the rescue to defeat evil and help spread decency across the West. Oh, and Gunsmoke is pretty good, too....

I don't think I'd be spending that much time indoors if I owned that much property.

Has anyone been to Santorini, Greece?

Has anyone been to Santorini, Greece? Right here, Rizz. Only once, though, about six years ago. While it is obviously touristic, it is so stunningly beautiful that you find yourself not caring that it is crammed with visitors much of the year. If you have a chance to go, I hope you will do so. One of those places that lives up to the hype, IMO. Maybe combine it with a few other Greek islands. One of my favorite parts of the world.

Once I saw rizzuto's question, I knew pipps would come through. He's been everywhere.

I always tell people that there are far more places I have not been to than I have been to. But Santorini is one of those travel-poster destinations you used to see in travel agencies back when there were travel agencies. And I have been to a lot of those kinds of destinations. Never been disappointed, either! Hope when you are old and in the way like me you will have racked up some world travel. What is on your bucket list?

No, I've only been to Paris, London, Australia, and Bangladesh (where my parents are from). I guess I'd like to see Japan, the Middle East, Italy, Greece, a few others. I'm really not a fan of planes (a little claustrophobic) though I will fly if I have to.

Well that's a pretty good start. I don't mean the video games, I mean the travel. You have at least gotten some idea of what else is out there. And I've never been to Bangladesh, so you have me there. The closest I came was buying George Harrison's album "The Concert for Bangladesh" several generations ago. Jeez, I detest planes. And most airlines, with rare exceptions like Singapore Air. I'm 6'4", and it's the exception for me to fly first class on my own dime. But I love travel so much that I am willing to risk an occasional blood clot to get to where I want to go.

So what would you say was your favorite travel destination of all the places you've visited? Kaybli, that is an impossible question for me to answer. There are so many wonderful places to see. I will say that one country I have a real soft spot for is New Zealand. It's like the whole place is a national park. Beautiful, rural, easy for an American to deal with. But it takes a long time to get there!! I love France, in part because I love French cuisine -- Paris is probably my favorite city, right in there with New York and London and Sydney. Japan is a breath-taking experience. Wildlife safaris in Africa are probably my single favorite thing to do as a traveler. Egypt and Israel for their cultural and religious history. India for sensory overload. The Greek islands for beauty and history. Plus hundreds of other places!!! Just to pick one out of my anal sphincter, you know what one of the most beautifully situated cities in the world is? Rio de Janeiro. Much maligned for many reasons, some of them justified, but what a spectacular setting. The U.S. is loaded with incredible places. Parts of Hawaii are like Paradise. Yellowstone doesn't take a back seat to any national park anywhere in the world, IMO. Man, I could do this for hours.
