This is SN. They often differ from MLB in their selections. Still nice to see it, and perhaps it portends what is to come from MLB... Whoops missed that part. Celebrated too early I guess. |

So happy to see Miguel get this very deserved award. And even though it isn't the "official" ROY award, it is still prestigious. I understand Ohtani is a freak of nature and insanely skilled, but I always think veterans of the Japanese league have an unfair edge over more classic rookies like Andujar. Sure, the Japanese League is not MLB, but it's also a step above AAA, and the likes of JL stars like Nomo and Ichiro and Matsui and Ohtani are simply more finished products than the others they are competing with.

Not to sound prejudicial but after what we’ve experienced with the players from Japan moving to the USA, I would rather that they are only eligible for the ROY award if they would have been eligible had they stayed in Japan... Just the ROY, mind you. Full eligibility for all other awards from day one... |
