"Rothschild said Eovaldi was just starting to get a feel for the cutter, a devastating pitch for him this postseason, when he got hurt in 2016. “The cutter is obviously the pitch that has made the difference for him,” Rothschild said. “And I think it’s enhanced his [four-seam] fastball, too, because of the late movement on the cutter and then with the [sometimes 100- mph] fastball, it’s just hard to decipher between the two.”

Sign with the Yankees, Nathan. Stay close to your mentor... That's my hope. His arm is special, and he's finally learning to pitch rather than to just throw.

I remember Eovaldi saying just a few months ago how much he enjoyed his time playing for the Yankees. It wasn't like he left with a bitter feeling.

Sometimes you can watch a player and just "know" that he's on the verge of a breakout. That's how I feel about Eovaldi...He could be at the top of his game for several seasons...

I would think that Eovaldi's first choice would be to stay with the Red Sox, but then again, who knows when the money offers come pouring in?

I remember Eovaldi saying just a few months ago how much he enjoyed his time playing for the Yankees. It wasn't like he left with a bitter feeling. It is a little odd that the Yanks seemingly had no interest in him when TB signed him and that they preferred Lynn and Happ when he was available in trade. Look at how he pitched for the Sox and you can make an argument that decision by Cashman is the difference in the season.

But without Eovaldi, Boston would have had problems effectively filling that spot in the rotation. Maybe Cashman believed there couldn't be a second act for Eovaldi in New York.

You are quite the doofus to select a thread featuring a player who is not on the team, on the IL and in a dead thread to boot..,
