Why this city is the world capital of breakfasts.
My breakfast is consistently the same every day now. I’m feeling better than I did in the days of muffins, doughnuts, cereal, and sometimes worse. A protein shake with: 1.5 scoops chocolate fudge whey protein powder 1 scoop powder from natural grasses with caffeine 1 scoop powder natural berries and veggies A couple handfuls of frozen strawberries 1 container Glucerna (I alternate choc and vanilla) In the blender she goes. Down the hatch. I’ve learned to enjoy this and look forward to it daily. Sometimes I’ll eat a breakfast food for lunch, but not the old sweets. Real food. At supper I let loose and eat spaghetti or pizza or about anything I want. We often have a meat-starch-veggie platter of some sort. When I want a snack in between I keep Quest bars around in various flavors. Just to test my will power I bought a box of my favorite chocolate covered doughnuts a couple weeks ago and left them in the fridge unopened. I caught Ruthie munching one last night, so they’re open now. But I’m not eating any of them… 😎 Sometimes I might grab a piece of fruit. Or some frozen berries in a bowl. If this change doesn’t fix my sugar I’m thinking about just gorging on sugary treats and dropping my meds until I keel over, or they amputate everything below the neck…

It is damnably tough to regulate a diet, especially if you have a sweet tooth. While I do not have a demon in chocolate or sugary snacks per se, I have a nearly insatiable salty snack temptation. Chips and dip, chips with no dip, nuts of nearly any kind - I love those wasabi and soy sauce flavored almonds - I intentionally do not buy them, but if they were more reasonably priced, I'm not certain I could help myself. I have never been a shake for meals guy, I usually just skip eating most of the time until I get home, but where do you find those ingredients? They may be readily available and I just never thought to look for them.

I have never been a shake for meals guy, I usually just skip eating most of the time until I get home, but where do you find those ingredients? They may be readily available and I just never thought to look for them. I see more and more of this stuff at Wal Mart, Target, and other grocery chains. I go to GNC for my whey and and the juice/grass/berry powders. The Glucerna is a recent add. A neighbor bought more than a case and then found out he couldn’t drink it due to other health problems, and dumped it off on me. But I see that in Target, sometimes WalMart, too. The frozen strawberries are my go to and they come from Wal Mart. I’ve used mixed berries and blue berries, too. The berries got me started. One of my neighbors said that they were eating ice cream every day, and couldn’t get weight off, so they started buying frozen berries to eat instead. So I tried that. Hmm. Not bad. That’s the one ingredient that got me over the top on the shake for breakfast idea. Those cold berries make it much better. Like you, I had never been a shake for breakfast guy. I had tried various brands, but always tired of them quickly. My first visit to GNC I got a lot of advice from the girl behind the counter. I’ve sort of created my own monster to my own tastes since then. I never knew I could feel better from changing the fuel inside. But I do. I’ve been doing this for about three months now, and I believe I’m still detoxing. It takes time, but seems it may be worth it…

Anyone here ever had ostrich or emu? Just curious because I was recalling the 70’s or 80’s when emu eggs were selling for gold-like prices and people were raising them in their back yards. It was going to be the next big dinner item.
I heard it failed because even the breast meet was dark, and it could be a little greasy. Truth? Or fiction?…

I remember the ostrich tasted like lean beef like filet mignon or something. Kind of like if duck was mixed with steak. Salty.

Or fiction?… I have had ostrich many times, usually at a particular teppanyaki place in Fresno, California. Ostrich looks like beef, except it cooks up white in color. It tastes amazingly like beef. After a while, I decided, why am I eating something that tastes like beef, when I could just have beef? There are ostrich farms in Arizona and in California. There is funny dialogue in the movie "Sideways" that involves Thomas Haden Church's character that had to traverse an ostrich farm after fleeing a married woman's bedroom when her husband came home early. Never had emu, though it was my third oldest brother's nickname as a kid, that he hated.

Trying to recall, but I believe Jim Kern, the Rangers and z Indians reliever used to be nicknamed “The Emu”, or just “Emu”… Thanks for the ostrich review. It was likely lower in fat than beef… at least one advantage…

That is some pretty good work. I was thinking maybe a plot twist where Limu fires Doug and we get a hot chick to look at. But then I thought. Limu. Chick. There may be a misunderstanding in there somewhere…

What about Rizzuto's favorite commercial series:
My favorite is the little gecko 🦎 from Geico, which reminds me I need to change my car insurance. You could save money. 🦎why, did you know that a 15- minute call could save you 15% or more? It’s mind-boggling why insurance (and other) businesses abuse established customers by raising rates to the point that they are constantly switching off customers, isn’t it? Cable, satellite tv, the propane business did it constantly. New customer price only! Existing customers will get one rammed right up the Ol’ you-know-what! Even after you made that 15- minute call last year, the price creep begins anew. We switched our trash collection company a couple years ago. They had raised us from $48 per quarter to $88 per quarter. I found another company at $42 per quarter. When I called to cancel they offered to price match. No thanks. If you can provide that service at less than half of what I’m paying you now, why weren’t you already doing so? I hear corporate bitching about the cost of customer acquisitions. Apparently they pay those little geckos very well. Yet, once the gecko does his job, they raise the rates and let the customer walk out for the next gecko, emu, or weirdly made-up chick that shows up to begin the cycle anew. I should look at my car insurance, too. I like the lady I’m dealing with, but I work with a credit company that has ties with the parent company of her insurance company, and I can get a discount. But I assume that to be a lizard too. The following years up we creep again. I tried the AARP insurance years ago. Great for the first year. Two years later i went gecko hunting. The price became nuts…

Sarah was great with that kind of stuff. Since she was disabled and home all day, she kept on top of it. She was so conscientious. Really missing her today.
