Tyler Florence has a restaurant in SF called the Wayfare Tavern. I haven't been there and it gets pretty mixed reviews. I looked at the menu recently and it's very limited, looks like they downsized it since opening a couple years ago.
Carlos Santana opened a restuarant in the East Bay 10 or 15 years ago called Maria Maria and I enjoyed it very much. Unfortunately, it was another victim of the pandemic.

So, anxious to hear your review. Hope the meal was better than the Yankee game! I noticed you mentioned Scoma’s previously. Years ago, they served the best abalone anywhere. Then, there was a moratorium on fishing them, and they were taken off the menu. Another dish was an appetizer of spicy calamari - just incredible. Also, their cocktails were always on point. Loved seeing the boats pull up to Scoma’s dockand deliver the fresh seafood. Never had a bad experience, though some consider it touristy because of the location. Scoma’s was featured in the opening of “The Streets Of San Francisco,” a Quinn Martin production.

I hear you and I hesitated adding it to the list because of the touristy reputation but the food is really good and it has a great view of the water. As I mentioned, my wife says they made the best scallops she has ever had.

I have a love for French cuisine thus the reason I grow tarragon/chervil/thyme each season. Most tarragon available is Russian tarragon. It's harsh and not a delicate as French version. In the past I would head to farmer's market in NYC ( where chefs purchase their products of the day) to buy French tarragon seedlings. Here's the difference, Russian tarragon can be germinated by seeds. French tarragon is grown from cuttings. This is what farmers tells me as they sold both versions. Presently I am able to grow/process my own cuttings so I haven't had the need to purchase them. If you smell both version, you can sense the difference.
I do a fall harvest to dried tarragon prior to winter. When purchasing dried tarragon make sure the label says French tarragon. My friend gave me some seeds to grow savory and "pizza thyme" will try grow them along with Genovese Basil and chives. I have oregano, thyme and sage growing by my window sill. It's great to have available fresh herbs at my disposal.

BTW - Does anyone remember Yogi Berra's favorite drink? His name and photo was on the bottle! Yogi for -----! Was it Yoo Hoo? Years ago, I played in a fantasy league and the winner got a bottle of Yoo-Hoo poured on their head.

Managed to get a reservation at a NYC classic for dinner today, Carbone. No one can top their Spicy Vodka Rigatoni, one of my favorite dishes. Had that, Octopus Pizzaiolo, Veal Marsala, and a Hazelnut Cake type dessert. Always a good meal. So stuffed.

Although I would have needed about three doggie bags with that lineup.

There was a great deal of seafood discussions in one of the game threads, I didn't want to risk being awarded Inger's wrong thread crown, so I will post my question over here. Has anyone had Branzino? It is somthing I have always wanted to try but it's been hard to find on the West Coast. It looks delicious.

In fact one of our favorite local restaurants when we lived in Philly was named Branzino. I think it's great -- light and flaky, maybe the same general category as Halibut. Normally served whole with minimal accouterments because it doesn't need them. You probably know that it's a European fish and is a true sea bass (unlike Chilean sea bass for example.) It's very popular in Italy. My guess would be that a nice Italian restaurant would be your best bet for finding it.

There is a very good Italian Restaurant there, I'll keep my fingers crossed they have it.

Look forward to a review.
