Question for New Yorkers, the other day Michael Kay said that the only type of pizza true NYers would eat is cheese without any toppings. I never lived in NY, grew up a Jersey boy and while I liked cheese pizza I also enjoyed a slice of pepperoni. Am I gauche? What a stupid thing for him to say. Sometimes M. Kay makes me wonder if he knows his ass from his elbow. Kay didn't say that. He said Rays player Richie Palacios, who is from Brooklyn, said that, which Kay understandably found odd.

I did find it strange that he would say something like that.

But some of my favorite pizza is sauteed spinach pizza, fried eggplant pizza, sausage, peppers and onions pizza, chicken and sauteed broccoli pizza. Preferably with a thin crust and baked in a coal oven.

Even people who put pineapple on their pizza doesn't bother me.
Then again, I make fun of people who order their steaks well done.
So Kaybli, would you order anything besides cheese pizza? My wife likes ham and pineapple. Not a favorite of mine but I will eat it if there isn't an alternative.

I like plain cheese, I like the occasional margherita pizza, I like Brooklyn style, I like a grandma pie, I order veggie lovers from Pizza Hut, I’ll even try anchovies once in a while. It all depends on the pizza joint and what they do best. I don’t eat pork though so I miss out on the pepperoni and ham ones. I’m hungry for pizza now 😆

Yeah, it sounded like Kay agreed completely, portraying himself being a strict cheese pizza guy who disdains toppings. We already know that Kay is an extremely picky eater.

Italian American museum should be opened shortly on Mulberry Street in Little Italy. Mulberry Street is blocked off to vehicular traffic this weekend. I'm not sure what is the reason. St Gennaro festival doesn't begin until mid September. Eateries are dotting the streets as many are enjoying a stroll through the neighborhood.

Does anyone still make dishes popularized in the 70-80s? Let me list a few. Salisbury steak, Meat loaf, beef stroganoff, Sheppard's pies. stuffed peppers, tuna casserole, sloppy joe, pot pies, stuffed cabbage rolls, American goulash, tapioca pudding, etc I still occasionally make meat loaf, pot pies, and stuffed peppers. I never had tuna casserole, Sheppard's pie or goulash. But I enjoy all the other foods you mentioned. Max, I can't believe you have never had Tuna Casserole. If done right, it can be very good.

Did any hear about the recent comments by Bobby Flaw. He said he always cooks steaks and burgers to medium. He said consumers have been programmed to order them medium-rare but at that temp the fat doesn't completely melt and they are not as tender or flavorable. I don't know if I buy that, I've had steaks and burgers medium and medium rare and I think MR is much better.

At other places I'll order steak medium. Always seems to work for me!
