Yankees sign Adam Ottavino to add to already-potent bullpen
Adam Ottavino, the hard-throwing reliever coveted by many around Major League Baseball, has reportedly agreed to join the New York Yankees’ already-potent bullpen.
ESPN’s Jeff Passan says Ottavino’s deal with the Yankees is done and worth $27 million over three years. Ottavino joins a Yankees bullpen that already includes Aroldis Chapman and Dellin Betances.
In 2018, Ottavino appeared in 75 games for the Rockies, posting a 2.43 ERA with 112 strikeouts, 36 walks and five home runs allowed in 77.2 innings pitched.

So, who will be the longman? Sonny Gray?

So, who will be the longman? Sonny Gray? I don't mind Gray as injury insurance or as a longman. If a good trade comes along though, trade him by all means and sign someone off the scrap heap.

Chapman Britton Betances Ottavino Green Holder Pretty nasty. Yes it is. And it seems like as favorable of a deal financially as you could have expected. About what the Phillies paid for two years of D-Rob. Who I still miss. But this helps.

Man, it would be awkward to have Gray back after Cashman's public statements. Maybe with some creative scheduling and abuse of the DL procedures the Yanks could just pitch him in road games.

Wasn't it Charles Barkley who claimed he was misquoted in his own autobiography?

Anyway, back to Ottavino. I like this deal a lot even though he is a bit old. His contract seems reasonable.

We’re going be able to pull a demon out of the bullpen anytime we want to now. We may have an official closer, but to be honest, I hope this is bullpen by committe. I’d rather mess with oppenents heads with matchups. If I was a member of that bullpen that would be an easy sale with me, and I’d be just as happy shutting down the 5th inning as I would be the ninth...
Remember that old album cover on “The Who’s” “Who’s Next?” album? That’s how I’d utilize this bullpen...

Doesn't look like we'll be getting Leclerc now inger. Lol, you yardbird... there’s no room for him, and no need for him now. Onward we march... Those who think the Red Sox are still miles ahead of us need to review their bullpen pieces. Right now, they’re talking about mouthy Brasier as their closer... (: Can’t wait until the league catches up with his middling crap this year... (:
