@m_Marakovits First day injury updates: Jacoby Ellsbury will not be here when position players report... still recovering from hip/plantar fasciitis. Michael King will be shutdown for 3 weeks (stress reaction elbow) #yankees
----
Shocking wrt Ellsbury.
Bummer about King, would be a hit to our already thin SP depth if this is anything serious.

Greatetst shape of his life alert!
Good luck with that, Luis. I remember back in about 1984. I ate a green bean that day and didn’t notice a single bit of difference. That was about a week after I did a sit-up. Same thing. Stomach didn’t look even the tiniest bit more ripped... I do like those treadmills and stair-walkers at the airport, though. I can feel the exhilarating burn on those. To be serious, folks I... Oh never mind. I can’t do it...

Pretty cool stuff es.pn/2X5tQ9gDanny Farquhar, who suffered a brain hemorrhage from a ruptured aneurysm last April 20 with the Chicago White Sox, began wearing custom-made head protection Thursday for his return to pitching with the New York Yankees, a team spokesman confirmed to ESPN's "Outside the Lines." Farquhar, who turns 32 on Sunday, collapsed in the dugout after coming off the mound in a game against the Astros. He was taken to a Chicago hospital and underwent surgery. Danny Farquhar's new cap has protective padding. Unequal Technologies Farquhar, signed to a minor league contract two weeks ago, is using a 6-ounce product from Unequal Technologies that is fitted for the official Major League Baseball 4-ounce New Era Cap, Unequal CEO Rob Vito told OTL. "The Yankees contacted us to design something to meet with the approval of his neurologist," said Vito. "What we made protects his temple and the skull area where he had surgery." Vito said the "Uncap" consists of a Kevlar composite insert and an outer flap of a polymer similar to what is used in batting helmets. The insert, said Vito, is secured inside the cap's sweatband to avoid having it shift with the motion of the pitcher.

I hate to deem it “over-protection”, but it wasn’t made a requirement because of a baseball injury. It could be beneficial for any pitcher, I suppose.
I should think that since MLB teams tend to provide safety equipment for the players at no cost to the player...yes...someone else who has caught a line drive back at his noggin will like it and want it. That will be followed by mandatory use by all MLB players, coaches, and umpires. By the year 2050 the players will no longer be discernible under the safety gear, which will make the changeover to robotic players by 2075 much more smooth.
I do champion the Yankees for wishing to offer this protection to Farquhar to assist his effort to make a comeback...

I Guess he’s a Yamkee until the insurance company stops paying his salary. Best case for the Yankees is for him to remain on the DL so at least they collect the insurance money and he doesn't compete for space with more promising and useful players.
