If I were pipps I would just hop on a plane and go to one of the eight or so countries in the world he hasn't visited yet. I saw what you did there Kaybli. Believe me, there are a lot more than eight that I haven't been to. But we did just get back a few days ago from Antigua and Montserrat in the Caribbean. Antigua is the only one that counts as a new country, because Montserrat is a British Overseas Territory, and the people who set the rules for these things insist that to count as a new country it has to be self-governing. So Greenland and Bermuda, for example, don't count, but Nauru in the South Pacific, which would probably fit comfortably inside the borough of Queens, does. Is there no justice in this world? Next time I travel I'm not going to buy a Lonely Planet guide, I'm just gonna ask my good friend pipps for recommendations on where I'm going.

But I do read them in my (ample) spare time. Getting old has its benefits, boys. Actually, with Trip Advisor and other online info, printed travel guides are going the way of the phone book. Of course, Lonely Planet does have its on-line version. My wife was in the travel biz for many years (low pay, but lots of travel freebies), but other than highly specialized companies, there isn't much room for travel agencies anymore.

With my travels, I’d have to ask Pipps if he recommends the Safeway or King Soopers... One thing moving around a lot does is introduce you to a lot of different grocery stores. I don't know if you've lived anywhere where Wegman's was operating, but those are definitely outstanding for a general grocery store (as opposed to the proliferation of localized specialty food stores.) My favorite name grocery chain was Piggly Wiggly, which I don't think exists anymore. Winn-Dixie, Food Lion, Giant, Kroeger's, Safeway, Albertson's, Skaggs Alpha Beta, Von's, Acme, A&P, etc etc. At some point I have bought my Wheat Chex in each of them. But King Soopers has eluded me, I have to admit.

I love Antigua...thats where me and the mrs went for our honeymoon (Sandals). What a beautiful place. Played golf at Cedar Valley. At just about this time last week we were literally sitting in a beach bar a few hundred feet from Sandals. Something like Ebanay? Can't recall (after a couple of strong gin and tonics, it didn't matter.) We spent most of our time on Antigua in English Harbour -- don't know if you remember that, on the south side of the island. It is actually a National Park and was home to the British Fleet's Caribbean command in the 18th and 19th century. But for sure Antigua is beautiful. Green and hilly with some spectacular (and often deserted) white sand beaches. Definitely a great setting for golf!!! And just the warmest and friendliest people. Good choice for your honeymoon (and for establishing your golf needs right from the start!)

Piggly Wiggly Lives OnThe Pig was always a favorite of my elder sister in Charleston, SC from the time she moved there the first time, which must have been very late 60’s or very early 70’s. I’d imagine she might still be shopping there...

Piggly Wiggly Lives OnIt is indeed an honor for me to realize that somewhere along my travels I have stood on ground so hallowed as to have eluded your footprints, Pipps. Next time we’re in the frozen foods department, I’ll take some time to soak it all in. We don’t go there often, since it’s further away than Wal-Mart, Safeway, and Albertson’s...But Pueblo has surprised us with amenities beyond what we expected, though so far CVS hasn’t settled here, even though there is a Target in town. Not good for us Medicare folks...I travel 60 miles to the drug store...Luckily I have a meeting in Colorado Springs every Friday so I can usually tie it in... The price of living on the quiet half of the country...I’ll take it...

No televised game until Sunday unfortunately. Since it’s supposed to be 24 degrees for the high that day and snowing, I’ll take it. It was 65 today. We’re having a yo-yo weather pattern here lately. Spring has a strange way of sneaking up on us here in the desert...

Thanks for that news, Rizz. It's a relief to know they are still out there. It gives me hope that maybe I can drop into the nearest Crazy Eddie and pick up some floppy disks for my Wang 2200. Of course, Nobody Beats The Wiz.
