I think free agency is in decline because owners realize it rarely helps. To many busts like Ellsbury and Arod (I know others disagree the later was a bust). That is a different issue than how much owners and players get (I side with the players who are the product in MLB). Owners need to come up with a different model to spread money around or there will be a strike which will be a disaster. Players need to realize they need a different model than free agency, because you can't make people buy players so free agency is not a winnable fight. The facts do not support the statement above. If it were true, however, that would mean in all likelihood that the owners have violated the CBA and are risking losing the antitrust exemption (which they should have never had, in any event). I don't think you've thought through the meaning and consequences of what you've asserted above.

Noetsi is trying to figure out how to install communist economics in MLB...All teams will receive an equal number of good hunters and batters that can steer the balk gently away from the defense... Batters that strike out will be lined up against a wall to face a firing squad...(oh, wait! Is that nazism)?...

I still stand by my statement that these extensions are good for baseball. I really don't think there will be a strike just because the Adam Jones's if the world aren't getting the contracts they think they deserve. There was just a correction to the market where older players aren't getting the contracts they used to. I think the two sides can agree to altering the free agent landscape by shortening the length of team control there by leading to more extensions. Which as I said are a good thing...
Dome... As usual I must disagree with you. Yankees should be in no rush to extend judge. His free agency is not gonna come until his age 31? Season... They might as well wait it out. By the time of his free agency he won't have much of his prime left anyway. Which is the problem with the market right now. Owners are smart enough to not pay for past preformance. Players need to figure out in the next cba how to get paid while still in prime.
Yankees need to figure out an extension for Torres once he starts with arbitration more so than judge now.
Done.. I also disagree that a lot of these players signing extensions are leaving money on the table. Who exactly do you think left money on the table?
You and I don't seem to see eye to eye on very much lol. How you been?

I guess I am doing OK...battling some Lung Problems, Prostate Problems, Diabetics, Tumor in my nose, etc. My 55 plus years of Sins Against Nature, etc. have finally caught up with me at 66 years old.
Good news is that I just gave up smoking after 50-years. I am laughing like a crazy person at that comment = Like giving up smoking after 50 plus years is going FIX everything!!!
Got to keep laughing at all cost and never lose your sense of humor. Hope ALL is well for you!!!

Hope you do well with all of those battles, we are praying for/thinking of you. Thanks Joe. Because of your NICE thoughts, I will when I get the chance remove the Curse I had local Witch place on you...I just got to find her again. I noticed you’ve been awful quiet lately. Hope you get straightened out soon. You’re only a year older than me, but next to you I’ve been garage-kept, only driven on paved roads on Sundays and lovingly washed and waxed on a regular basis. I’d call you ‘53 Jeep that’s been bounced around on mountain roads, never been washed, no oil changes and a couple million miles on you. Me? Nice, well-kept Chevy sedan. My owner put that clear plastic stuff on my upholstery when she bought me, and I purr like a kitten between those oil changes she gives me (woo-hoo) every 2,000 miles...Quaker State, baby!!! Anyway... get well. Not putting smoke in your front end might make you smoke a little less out the back end...
