Duke...as much as it pains me to say I kinda feel bad for Zion that he had to waste a year of his life pretending to be a college student when he should have been making millions in the NBA.

THERE IS NO WAY DUKE WINS IT ALL. I put $$$ on that; so that means Duke MUST LOSE!!!

March Madness drives me mad. It really pisses Ruthie off because it interrupts “her shows”...
Can’t believe America gets so wrapped up in college guys chasing a fictional title every year, but they do. At least I don’t live in Kentucky anymore...

I've been in these basketball pools for ages and never came close to winning one. I will have to break with Brother Inger and acknowledge that the tournament is one of my favorite sporting events of the year. It was even back in the 1960s when there were only 32 teams and UCLA won almost every year. Jeez, I was into this stuff when Loyola and Cincinnati were winning titles.
I am also in that small group of people who don't hate Duke. My final four this year is Duke, Michigan, Tennessee and North Carolina, with the Dukies taking it all. Not terribly original, but I want to win one of these pools some year.
Glad to see one of my upset picks Murray State come through today. Also Minnesota with Pitino Jr. These first four days are sports Heaven. Lots of cheating my employer.

I do admit that I can’t help peeking at the results, even though I find them meaningless. I suppose that to be because of my distant past fandom of the U of MD basketball team. How distant? Think Bias and Elmore...

Well the Terps held on to beat Belmont today. Yeah, Ellmore and Bias and Patton and Tom McMillan in the Lefty Driesell days. John Lucas too, right? When Maryland was in the ACC like they should be.

And when they were billing themselves as “The UCLA of The East”. I was sold. I thought Lefty would live forever. Instead he turned wooden...

Yep, other than not winning 10 national championships in 12 years, they were the UCLA of the East.
But they did have a good run. I remember watching the games on the Baltimore stations-- it was something like the Virginia Pilot Network. When you knew what conference every team was in.

It is hard to get used to Maryland in the Big Ten. Their fans hate UNC and Duke but they have to miss those great match ups those teams had on the court.

Yep, and Nebraska too. And Syracuse in the ACC. A shame how so many historic rivalries have been uprooted.
And bring back the Southwest Conference while we're at it.

I miss the original Big East Conference. 3 of the 9, Pitt, Syracuse and B.C. are now in the ACC, but they all seem out of place there. Remember all those great Syracuse/Georgetown games?

I still love Syracuse basketball but its just not the same without the Big East. One of my most memorable nights at college was watching the 6 OT game vs. UConn in the Big East tournament with a bunch of my buddies in a bar. So epic.
