Robertson allows a double but gets out of it wth an "efficient" 30 pitch nailbiter. Just like old times.

Bryce did hit his first Phillies HR today, an upper deck 440 foot shot. Got the curtain call, the whole bit. No question the fan base is in love right now. But it could change by next Tuesday.

He was hearing some boos on opening day. I’ve read that his beard has special powers because he was born with it. It’s sort of like the Green Lantern, where if it gets shaved off and he has no power anymore. So now, I’m wondering if when he goes into his slumps if he’s wearing a falsie. Beard that is... I also saw a headline the other day where the players voted him “Most Over Rated”. What do they expect, 550 foot homers and 300 walks??!...Anyway, I doubt he cries at night wondering why the other boys don’t like him...

Boston's starting pitchers are really getting smacked around in the early going. Sale, Eovaldi and Rodriguez have allowed a total of 18 earned runs and twenty hits. I didn't realize how the Seattle third baseman made it close until I read it here. The hot corner may be a little too hot for that guy.
Anybody recall when Tommy John made three errors on one PLAY when pitching for the Yanks in the late 80s? He muffed a routine grounder, made a late wild throw to first, then cutoff Dave Winfield's throw to the plate and threw it over the head of the catcher. That's maybe the one time I would have liked to have heard Sterling describe a play and Suzyn give her analysis of it. The Yanks still won in a rout.

The Royals at 2-0 are the only unbeaten team in the American League. How about that parity, right?

Sterling also likes to give all the people scoring from home how a played should be scored. That would have been a riot.

I know broadcasters always use that intro when they give the scoring on a complicated play, and maybe there are still kids or shut-ins who do that. As a kid I often used to do it at the park just to keep focused on the game. John Sterling is the Ted Baxter of broadcasters. Not sure who to compare Suzyn with. Maybe Fran Drescher?
