German really looking impressive with whiffs of Castellanos and Miggy. Unfortunately, he is nearing the 80 pitch mark, so he will most likely be pulled soon. Boone was probably itching to pull him after four...

I was just thinking along those lines. 79 pitches in 5 innings, 7 K’s, 5 BB, and only 1 hit is so much better than Happ’s line in his start...I wonder if Boone will send German back out on a short leash?...

I see Green in the pen, so he's probably not long for this game. Why leave a pitcher who is pitching effectively in the game?

Remember the days when a pitcher that had a shutout going would NEVER be pulled? Not that German has a shutout, but...remember when it mattered if the starter had great stuff?... “C’mon, skip. I can go another 15 innings if it stays tied. I want the win”!!!

As naturally German is lifted for Green. Damn.

Nice work by Green. It's just that he shouldn't be out there until the eighth inning.
I just loved what German showed on a night when the Yankees really needed it.

Maybe one more inning would be nice. But you know German, he can implode at any moment. With the Yankees bullpen I wouldn't quibble too much.

But I would at least given him a chance to start the inning. The Yankees still have not had a starter go six innings. I just wonder how the bullpen will hold up over the course of the season.

I get what you're saying. If it were Severino or Tanaka or Paxton or Happ I would definitely be wondering what Boone was doing. But with German and it being his first start, I can't fault Boone on this one today.

Plus, the kid needs a chance to grow. Go one batter at a time in the sixth. Even let him just get one batter in the sixth and you’ve allowed him to mature one more tick. On the other hand, he left on a real positive note...
