It's been a rough start of the season for what's supposed to be a shut down bullpen.

That's a frustrating one. Tanaka outduels Verlander but the bullpen blows it.

Yawn. Fell asleep on the couch, but woke up at all the wrong times to see the Astros runs score...Ottavino was frustrated with those high fastballs not getting chased, nor called (some could have/should have been)...
I wanted this game. Maybe if I had stayed awake we would have won it... Take a load off, Fanny...Aaaaaannnnd... you put the load right back on me...

And all the great minds in baseball immediately went back to watching film of launch angles. They completely disavowed the “Noetsi Method”, where all batters learn to softly and gently contact the ball in such a manner as to steer it away from the fielders. But not young Carlos. He had been seen working on the field with Russ earlier in the day, and when his moment came he knew what to do. He and Noetsi are aiming for 2021 as the year Carlos will lead the majors in “soft contact singles” and “ soft contact game-winning hits”. Greatness must come at a price...

“Carlos, tell us about your game-winning hit”.
“Sure. When I looked at the situation, I saw this hard throwing reliever that throws a bunch of pitches that no one can square up, see. Then I remembered what master Noetsi had taught me, and I could hear him chanting softly...contact, contact, contact. Steer the ball. BE the ball. I knew I had to steer this ball away from the fielding talent. Then I saw Greg Bird, standing there looking like a doofus, and I had my target. I just needed to get the pitcher to come over and block the throw to the plate, also. See? Simple”...*
* Lines from future movie, “The Legend Of Bagger Noetsi”.

As a Christian I don't like zen from which the force is derived as a value so I would not be involved in such.
Tough loss. Why pull a pitcher after 78 pitches?

Noetsi, I am happy to agree with you on this. Unless the guy was injured or asked to come out, it is borderline insane to take out a pitcher who is pitching effectively after 78 pitches. The pitch count has done far more damage to baseball than the Black Sox scandal ever did. You would have loved watching the Blue Jays today against Boston. Two guys in a row bunted -- and it worked out to Toronto's benefit -- and there was a steal of home. Old Willie "Hit 'Em Where They Ain't" Keeler would have been proud. I was thinking of you when an overmatched Blue Jays team ignored the Holy Writ of modern baseball and actually made it work!! Small ball lives another day!!
