The continuation of Estrada’s outfield career is quite a mysterious move...Seems to me as though putting Gardner at leadoff and dropping every one else in front of him a slot would be a way to sort of lengthen the lineup...Boone must have a premonition that Sanchez is ready to start making contact again to be batting him third today...
Let’s just hope the Giants continue to stink...

When the regulars continue to trickle back onto the roster it’s going to be an interesting process to see who can hang on to the utility spots. Some of that will depend upon the order in which the regulars return, and some will depend upon quality of play by the fill-ins. Tyler Wade and Estrada have certainly shown a good combination of utilitarian defense and offense at this point. Urshela has had a short stint of one of his best stretches of play in his career. Tauchman teased us with some pop, but is struggling to cement himself. Maybin is an easily dumped piece that is never going to be better than he already is...Mike Ford? He can hit. Unfortunately for him, he has done so in poor luck thus far...Could someone possibly play well enough to make the Yanks think about dispatching Tulo? To relocate Andujar to DH?...

The scouting report that Kay gave on Holland was not very accurate. He said, strikeouts (7.6) per nine, walks (3.2 per nine) and HR (yes, lots). He gives up more than a hit per inning however. The mention that his strikeout rate has been up the past couple of seasons is a combination of strikeout rates being up all over baseball and a relatively small sample.
He has a 77-76 career record, the positive side of which was built in a season where he went 16-5 some 7-8 years ago. The 1-7; 6.38 career mark vs. the Yankees would seem to be more the way he’s trending at this point in his career, so let’s pile up some runs today!!!

Beating the ball on the ground vs. Holland is abnormal. Hope that doesn’t last long...

So naturally, Holland gets a strikeout and gives up a walk...Where in the heck is our home run?... I’d prefer Gardy batting second and Voit third. Gardner seems to hit his HR’s “accidentally” when he’s in the leadoff spot. When you put him in a power slot in the order he seems to try to be a power guy, and it seldom works out...

Though his ABs are limited in the #3-6 spots in the order, Gardner has never hit a HR in any of those batting order slots in his career...
