I just noticed today that the one-time Yankee passed away on the 11th of April. He had his last strong season at 16-11 with the Yanks in the team’s weak 1991 season, and followed that up at 12-11, albeit not pitching as well that season. He was fortunate to have had a 19 season MLB career, winning 17 once and 16 on two occasions...

I associate him more with the Cubs, but he obviously was well-traveled. He was just about the only decent starter on that bleak Stump Merrill team.
Tim Leary, Wade Taylor, Jeff Johnson, Scott Kamieniecki, Dave Eiland, Chuck Cary, Andy Hawkins -- bad days for starting pitching. We could not have imagined that good times were just around the corner.
He managed to win 163 games in a long career, but 62 is way too young in this era.

Sanderson spent a good chunk of his career out here and Chicago and both the Cubs & White Sox telecasts had tributes for him. They said he was as nice pf a guy that you would find in the sport.

I often wonder if people get nicer after they die... If everyone alive that passes is as nice as they get credit for, why are there so many dicks in the world?...
