Urshela with the leather again! For the young lads out there, that was a Clete Boyer play. And that's high praise. You have to love what Gio has delivered in his brief stint. I was told that Brooks was the greatest third baseman of his generation with the glove but Boyer was not far behind.

We haven’t had a third baseman be able to make that slow roller, barehanded play since Eric Chavez was coming off the bench. No starter since Robin Ventura.

I feel a bit simple saying this, but it seems Voit is playing a good bit better in the field this season... I think the same thing, Inger. Well, that’s good. Maybe I’m still close to coherent. I do recall Kay saying the other day that Voit has worked hard on his fielding during the off season. Of course, I’m my logical mind I’m thinking, well of course he did. Doesn’t every player do that? But I guess some don’t... I recall one of the few seasons when I was being called upon to play some infield that I would take one of those small super balls, the little ones you’d get in a gumball machine. I had a wall that I could throw it against and it would shoot off at odd angles onto a concrete pad that I would stand on. No glove, the ball was too small, but I would find myself diving on that concrete to pick off some off those ricochets... I got good at learning how to dive without taking skin off. Usually in short pants...Dang, I loved playing that blasted game...

Brooks was clearly an overall better player. But they were very close with the leather. I would say Clete had a slight edge on the kind of play Gio made -- charging the ball and making the barehand pickup. Brooks probably was better at the ball over the bag and making the long throw to first. He really cemented his legend in the 1970 World Series with a string of great plays on the big stage. But defensively, I thought they were a coin toss.

If it hit the gravel the wrong way, it would fly into the rice field next to the house. Tough to find in there.

It was hard to discern a difference in the three. The things Robinson had going for him were that he was ambidextrous, which I feel helped him sprawl and land well on dives. He was also quite a showman, and I saw him more than once lie down to field a routine grounder to thunderous applause, with the whole crowd in the stadium standing. I won’t knock showmanship. The crowd pays their money, and you give them their money’s worth, right? I thought Aurelio Rodriguez was amazing too, with that black glove. The only thing was that he would throw a ball away now and again...

Bruce showed why he’s hitting a buck-eighty there. Swinging at that on 3-1? What a dope...Glad we never got him...

I'm glad Sabathia got out of that because I did not want to see Holder come in with multiple runners on base.

Glad he got that last out. Not many more chances to add a “W” for him at this point...
