Definitely deserves to be its own thread.
Hope the switch hitting old man can pop a few HRs into the short porch!

And be careful running the bases. If he gets hurt, no biggie. With our luck though he'll be so slow on the bases, someone will run into him and pull a quad or something. [img alt=" " class="smile" src="//storage.proboards.com/6828121/images/cYJDdrfMoRBryreIqHCt.gif"]

Since he’s hitting a “weak as a kitten” .204 with only 1 HR in 126 AB, we can assume that all we gave up is a box of Cracker Jack with the prize and all the peanuts removed, I think it’s a good risk.
Morales career splits show him to be a fellow who heats up with the weather, as his March/April career splits show his lowest BA of any month (.251) and his lowest SLG of any month at .398). Perhaps the A’s are giving up on him too early in the season, and he indeed turn on some balls to boost the Yankee offense...

Looking a bit deeper into Morales early season woes, last season on the same date (May 14), Morales was only hitting .195/.244/.293. Sadly, by the end of May he had slid even further, to .250 before recovering and hitting more to his talent level the remainder of the season.
In 2017, he got off to a good start.
In 2016 Morales May 14 line showed .203/.260/.331.
In 2015 he started the season on the DL, and didn’t appear in a game until June.
So, we can see that in recent seasons stumbling very badly out of the gate has been quite typical for him. Perhaps the change of scenery, the short porch and players like Maybin and Urshela playing the game with such joy for having gotten a fresh start with jump start him...

I stated that Morales got off to a good start in 2017. I had slipped and forgot the stats. It was actually only “good” in comparison to other recent seasons at .244/.293/.444.
He did start some seasons early in his career with a .300 average in by May. But it’s been a long time, so I didn’t go there. Old bones Te cold bones... Don’t take my word for it. Ask Pipps... (:
Wonder if Pipps is traveling? He’s been a bit scarce lately...

A look at Morales's only HR this season. Yankee Stadium swing!!! This reminds me of the year I picked up a lumbering platoon slugger in my Strat-O-Magic league to boost my team’s power output and he went on an absolute tear to help my team take a close race...It was the only time Willie Mays Aiken was to play in that league during his career. When I released another player mid season (players had to go through reverse waivers if released) and picked up Aiken there were puzzled looks around the table, as I rarely wanted slow footed players on that team...But sometimes, a move just feels right...

This isn't great news I think if you read between the lines. If Stanton and Judge were coming back any time soon, there's no spot for Morales on this club.

I also took this as a sign that Stanton's shoulder injury is worst than they're letting on. I hope you’re reading too much into this. Morales is a cheap acquisition that can be flipped or simply released if Stanton and Judge return in a month. In the interim, we can use a power bat. Morales has a tendency to run hot and cold. If he gets hot, he can carry a team for weeks (on the cheap)... (:

Even our top singer, Ypson Fogerphleganty said, “Schnek at me, I can be, centerfield”...
