Hess has given up 14 home runs in 40 innings. I bet Yanks add a few more. I'm surprised Boone didn't sit Sanchez and Torres.

More and more looking like a “real” lineup...

The performance of Hess reminds me a bit of the pitcher Domingo German was a year ago. No, not the stuff or pitching style so much. If you take the HR out of the equation, he’s not all that bad.
He seems to be extremely susceptible to HR with the first three innings. Torres has 3 career HR against him, Sanchez 2, and at least Voit and Maybin have taken him deep.
As a team, the Yankees have a total of 9 HR vs. Hess, more than any other opponent. That’s in only 18 innings. In addition, the Uanks have battered Hess for a .322 BA.
Hess doesn’t fit the mold of the typical pitcher that pitches worse when facing a lineup for the first time. It seems one of the keys is to score on him early, as he does tend to settle in a bit into the middle innings. He seldom has seen the seventh inning...

Right on cue, Hess gives up a three run bomb to Sanchez in the first!

LOL, Smith Jr.
He's the gift that keeps giving.
I shouldn't laugh. Look like he's hurt.

As a LF, Smith is a good hitter...And fun to watch in the field...for the wrong reasons...

Oddly, Hess’s BA against with the changeup last year was .225, but he seems to be afraid to throw it. It’s all 92-93 MPH four seamers and a slider that he hangs way too often...
And like Happ yesterday, he won’t pitch inside...Torres and Frazier just tees off , like they knew what was coming...And with just two pitches, it’s easier to guess (Helps Frazier a lot)...

So sorry for Baltimore fans... If you ever lived down there as a Yankee fan, you’d relish every second of this...
